Good Job

There goes another weekend. Happy belated Labor day Natural Health Family. I imagine everyone had a good time with a possible extended weekend. Labor day is a day to celebrate the hard working people in the country who have contributed to helping the nation grow. It is also a time of transitioning and the last days of summer. Our work is important and whether it is or what seems to be a small or large job it is the manner of how we perform that counts. This post is going to be short and merely a question to ponder.  The work that we do is important to allow us to make our livelihood in this country and world. We may at times feel that we are working constantly just to get to the weekend. At times, people make the change to different jobs or life shows them new opportunities to venture towards. However, when we make the most of where we are at and do our best, life tends to direct us in new ways.  They say when you love what you do you don’t work a day in your life. ...

Sugars and Diabetes Connection

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you had a great Labor Day weekend and were able to relax a bit. I talked to several patients this morning and their complaint was the weekend was too busy, as most weekends are. The weather sure was nice even though it was a little hot, but we know this won’t continue and the temperatures will start going down a bit. Hopefully we will have a nice long fall that stays somewhat warm but we will see. I had an uncle that used to work at a LP gas company. They had watched the temperatures over the years and they average out. So, if you have a really hot summer, you would normally have a cold winter. But if the summer was more moderate, you have a more moderate winter. With the busy weekend and some of the beverages people consumed, don’t forget to stay hydrated and that means good quality water and electrolytes which are basically sea salt o...

Animal and Plant Protein Sources Are Not Equal

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Protein is the primary building block for muscle and muscle loss is associated with a loss of independence and risk of premature death. Data show that animal protein is more bioavailable and provides more essential amino acids than plant protein The Dietary Guidelines for Americans uses an ounce-equivalent standard portion to compare nutritional content, which data suggest may not be accurate. The bioavailability of amino acids is an important consideration and one researcher suggests the data may call into question the recommendation to eat more plant-based foods For multiple reasons, the push to eat more plant-based foods is not sustainable as it doesn't provide the needed nutrition and leads to nutritional deficiencies. Fake meat products are also metabolically hazardous, as they are created with vegetable fats and raise greenhouse gas emissions Fake foods are the very definition of junk food. A society that relies on fake foods for nutrition can be easily co...

Ready For Labor Day Weekend?

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Another great weekend and some more rain. We’ve got to keep the grass growing. I was noticing driving in to town yesterday, that it sure looks nice when everything is green, rather than the brown grass and things from the dry weather. It looks like we’re going to have a great week coming up and a great weekend for Labor Day. Hopefully everyone can enjoy Labor Day weekend and not have to help the kids with too much homework already.                 Don’t forget about our live Health Shops at 6:15 on Monday evenings. We do those live on Facebook and Instagram and then eventually will post the videos to Brighteon.com and YouTube. This month were talking about Back-To-School topics and this week, were talking about Children’s Foods and Moods. I will especially be talking about...

How Far We’ve Come

Hi everyone in the Natural Health Family. Imagine the weekend brought some fun and/or accomplishments with it. In today’s world it seems like there is so much information out there about what to do for health. We are flooded with social media and other advertisements about what is the go to solution for the problem. Although the internet has greatly helped us with gaining a lot of information in a quick way we can also find that it can direct us off course at times. However, there may be more to the story. Let’s talk about some different topics and how some advice might not necessarily be true.  First, have you ever wondered how we got here with our food? As a country or even as a species we have drastically changed the way we grow and gather our food. From hunting and gathering to farming and other agricultural practices we have moved to a means that suited the lifestyle we had. This, however, went from farmers who planted for the town or city to a vast industry where large amou...

Free Falling

Welcome back Natural Health Family. Imagine everyone had a good past weekend. Did you happen to notice that August is almost past already? Time can seem to fly by and many times we can get caught up in the race. Sometimes we forget to slow down and take it all in. I was able to skydive over the weekend and it helped me to realize that time can really slow down (or it feels like it). It can be up to us to take a moment and be present where we are at.  Have you ever done something you knew would be thrilling but decided to do it anyway? Skydiving was that action for me. All the time building up to it and the anticipation of falling from the sky had me feeling a bit nervous. It was something I have never done in my life. I have heard about it, read stories, but never experienced it for myself. So before the jump you have to go through some procedures. When checking in you have to sign a lot of documents and watch an instructional video. This didn’t help with the nervous feeli...

It's Hot Out There - Stay Hydrated!

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you had a great weekend and are enjoying the heat. It seems to always get hot around the beginning of school time and this year will be no exception. We might as well enjoy the heat because in a few months, it will be different, and then we will be complaining about the cold. Hard to believe right now though-ha. Don’t forget to stay hydrated this week with the higher temperatures. This includes drinking good quality water and don’t forget the electrolytes, like sea salt or mineral salt or one of our favorite products here at Natural Health Cal-Amo.                 It seems to be working out very well to have our live health shops at 6: 15 on Monday nights and this month we’re talking about Back to School. This week we’re talking about Health 101 for Kids, we wi...
