Having Fun

Hello Natural Health Family. I hope everyone had some fun this weekend whether you got out to the races, the picnics, or just spent some time relaxing with family. Today I wanted to talk about why recreation is important for our health and how it is important for our health and well being. Many people tend to stay busy. They are constantly working on something that could be related to work, the house, the yard, or other projects. It is of course good to have a strong work ethic. However, when we overtax our brain and bodies we can’t perform efficiently. Thus our productivity can go down. It might not be that we can’t do what we need to do at the time, but later not be able to do other work because we either feel physically or mentally drained. This can build up over time leading to other health issues. We all think that we will always have something to do or things will never get done. Whether this is true or not, which it may be, we can see that we might as well enjoy life whe...

Got Bowel Issues?

Hello everyone in Natural Health Nation -      It’s so nice to have warmer weather and I hope you were able to enjoy it this weekend. The birds are chirping, the ducks and geese are flying and I've heard of flowers coming up to show the signs of spring are here. I'm sure looking forward to green grass and the smell of that first cutting. It's an awesome time of year, to watch everything coming back to life from a hard winter. I hope you are able to get Outdoors into the fresh air and sunshine and come back to life after hibernating. I think everyone is looking forward to being able to get outside.      We are working on the topic of diet in February and the topic for this week's Health shop is stomach and bowel issues. The article that I'm sending along with this email is about a “DNR” put on some folks in  care facilities. A "DNR" is a “do not resuscitate” order and the folks that had it used on them didn't even know it...

Light up the World

Hello Natural Health Family. We are starting March with warmer temperatures, sun shining and a feeling that spring and summer are just around the corner. This means that we are able to get outside and enjoy more of the world. The world might appear a bit chaotic yet and many are uncertain of the future. However, this world is full of good if we are willing to look for it. Let’s talk about how fear and love can influence the way we view our lives.  When you watch the news or media and see all the conflict and turmoil then you imagine how scary the world can be. But then you take a step outside and feel the sunshine hit your face and breath in some fresh air. Instantly you feel a change of energy and a sense of calmness. It can be confusing and conflicting when we see the world one way, but then in the next moment see it completely the opposite. This confusion may cause us to feel fearful of what is happening in the world. It causes us to be overcome by what appears to be th...

Love Heals

Hey my Loves. Ever since we were kids, we have been using this emotion. Love for others. Love for our food. Love for ourselves. Love for life. I think it would be safe to say that everyone's strives to have a life that they can fully love. A life that they can relax, they can play, and they can feel abundant. As it relates to your health, love is the most powerful healer and can heal any type of illness that is in the body and mind. Many think that love is the red heart shaped box of chocolates with a teddy bear, but it goes much deeper than that.  I have had the privilege to understand the true power of love in my own health and life. The research available is remarkable and once it is applied to one’s life, it can positively transform any area of your life. Why? Have you ever looked at a kid playing? Have you seen how present he/she is in the moment? Just in complete awe with everything in front of them. What changed us being a kid to us all grown up? The development of t...

Why is Exercise a Struggle?

Hey! How’s your Monday going? For me, everything is Super Duperly Amazing! Let me tell you why I say that in a highly optimistic way if you couldn’t feel that though these texts. Growing up I played any sport that I could during the waking day. Having 3 other brothers around the same age playing sports as well, we got a lot of exercise. We would get exercise playing these sports and because we have such a competitive society, we had to workout to be better at those sports. Everyday we trained ourselves to become the best we could be. Pretty amazing looking back upon it.  There were times that it was a struggle going to practice or exercising, but the majority of the time it came natural. It was second nature.  It was a part of who I was. Well all of that training paid off working out in grade school and high school to receive a scholarship to play football in college. Which just means 5 more years of intense exercise ha. After college I got an amazing job as a Sales Representa...

Emotions

Natural Health Family! We will be continuing our journey of post on different degrees of emotions and why it is important to know them. The two we will talk about today are greed and kindness.  Greed is an excessive desire for power, wealth, prestige, security, or any personal satisfaction or gratification. Many people tend to fall in the trap of wanting to gain more of something the easiest and shortest way possible. This has led many to be entangled in greed because they wanted that quick gratification. It is nice to receive things in a nice quick manner at times but should not be the basis of how we acquire things in life. Just like the people that win massive amounts of money all of a sudden only to find themselves quickly bankrupt or worse than they were before. When we fail to understand that many great things in life such as the arts, inventions, music, skills, technology or other amazing things we have experienced in life came from persistence and a willingness to ...

Strengthening Your Immune System

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-             What a glorious weekend, some of the best weather we’ve had so far this year. It’s so great to see everything greened up and growing. The temperatures were great and this week looks good too. Even the humidity has come down and it’s enjoyable to be outside. Make sure and get out and get that good vitamin D from the sunshine and breathe the fresh air. It’s also good to walk around barefoot in the grass for the grounding effect. Such a wonderful time of year and great time to work on being healthy.             We are into men’s health month in June but the information we send out goes for women too. The topic of the health shop tonight is men’s cancers and top issues. Cancer, of course, is a problem with the immune system and that goes right along with this pandemic business and our need to keep the immune system worki...

Non-Interference

Hello Natural Health Family! I talked about quantum physics and how thoughts are a very important part of our health and well being. Today I wanted to talk about a topic “Non-interference,”how it relates to our health and also how quantum physics plays an important part.   “Non-Interference” comes from a book that I am reading which is called Rays of the Dawn by Dr. Fleet. This topic of the book simply means minding your own business. The importance of minding your own business in many cases relates very well to the principle of quantum physics called the observer effect. The observer effect states where you place your attention is where you place your energy. If we consciously or subconsciously (below our awareness) place our energy on things outside of us, we have less energy for our health. This means that not only being physically engaged in other people’s matters can drain our energy but even thinking about other people’s matters or problems can be detrimental to ou...

Are You Present?

Hello Natural Health family! I have been thinking more about being more present with people and giving my undivided attention to others. During this time we are blessed with the opportunity to spend more time with our families. Being present is an important aspect of health and can have many benefits. Let’s discuss why something that seems so easy can rather be quite difficult because of how we have been conditioned to think and act.      Being present with others and different activities may seem easy, but i would like you to try it today after reading this post. Our minds continue to race throughout the day and practicing being present in the moment helps to limit the chatter in our minds. It also helps to increase our attention span. When you begin being present you will notice how many times your mind tends to wander off. That is because you are now being aware of the present moment and awareness helps you to realize the activity of your mind. Don’t feel bad...

Nature Benefits

How Immersing Yourself in Nature Benefits Your Health Analysis by  Dr. Joseph Mercola STORY AT-A-GLANCE Compared to no nature contact, spending 120 minutes or more in nature during the previous week was associated with a greater likelihood of good health or high well-being Getting recommended levels of nature exposure weekly could result in a similar magnitude of health gains as achieving recommended levels of physical activity Humans’ alienation from nature may lead to “diminished use of the senses, attention difficulties and higher rates of physical and emotional illnesses” In psychiatric patients, gardening led to improved mood and pro-social behavior while fostering a sense of community, belonging and shared purpose If you feel revived and energized after a hike through the woods or an afternoon in a local park, there’s likely an intrinsic reason why: Spending time in nature is good for your health. Although modern-day humans are, unfortunately, often disconne...

Chiropractic History

Hello all of the Natural Health Family. I first wanted to start off my blog talking about where chiropractic came from.  Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away… Haha who doesn’t like a joke. Let’s start again.  Chiropractic first started Davenport, Iowa during the year 1895. This was a time when they didn’t have Super Bowl Sundays, no big flat screen TVs, no Facebook, no Instagram, no cell phones. You might wonder how we ever managed to get by? Well I guess we managed enough to enjoy the little things and to live in the simpler times. Nonetheless, at that time there was a man named D.D. Palmer. He was a great bearded fellow who was interested in the healing arts of past times. He was focused on magnetic healing at the time (another topic for another blog perhaps). He was a curious man always searching for better ways to help out the common lad. One day he was assessing and helping a man named Harvey Lilard. However, on that day, during his assessment he noticed a slight...

Vitamins and Minerals

I hope that you had a great weekend despite the weather. I had to take a trip to Central Michigan and it was warmer there than it was here in Quincy. The first part of the trip was traveling in whiteout conditions and not being able to see the road until we got to Pittsfield and then not bad from there on. The weather can be a stress not only because of the cold temperatures and being stuck inside but when trying to travel and the conditions on the roads. The stress can lead to nutritional deficiencies as the body is using more of its stores to handle these stresses.             Our topic for tonight’s health shop is vitamins and minerals. We’ll be talking about where they come from and how the body can absorb them, two topics you never hear about on mainstream media advertising. For example, the Ensure product has artificial vitamins and minerals that come f...

Vigorous Exercise

Vigorous Exercise Leads to Lower  Mortality for Women Analysis by  Dr. Joseph Mercola STORY AT-A-GLANCE Heart disease and cancer are the two top reasons people die in the U.S.; data show women who can exercise vigorously have a reduced risk of mortality from heart disease, cancer and other causes Women who have high cardiovascular fitness also enjoy a reduced risk of dementia, which may be related to higher levels of a protein responsible for improving mitochondrial biogenesis Combining intermittent fasting with the ketogenic diet plan may boost the health benefits and improve mitochondrial health. This includes not eating within three hours of going to bed to reduce free radical damage Lack of exercise is globally responsible for nearly 5 million deaths each year; the more you move and exercise the lower the potential rate of death. Aim to sit as little as possible during the day Heart disease and cancer are the top two reasons people die in the U.S. The t...
