Health

Welcome back Natural Health Family. I imagine you had a great weekend and enjoyed time outside. Today I wanted to talk about health. Everyone sees things differently and there can always be 2 ways to see whatever it is. When it comes to health there can be two ways to see it. We can either see health as difficult to achieve or view it as our natural state.  When you hear the word health what comes to mind? We may think of ourselves, our relatives, the professional athletes in peak condition, or others who are doing well. We may think of the healthcare system of the nation and how relatively the U.S. is not doing the greatest. We may think of the different approaches such as the western culture approach of drugs, medicines, surgery and so forth. Or we may think of the “alternative” approaches such as herbal medicines, nutrition, acupuncture, chiropractic, etc. There may be thoughts of accidents such as traumas which may or may not need emergency care. Whatever the case, we all see i

Fall Allergies

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Another beautiful weekend but we missed some rain chances. Our area sure is dry and dusty and I hope we get some rain soon to wash the pollen out of the air and settle the dust. The fall flowers, or weeds, are in bloom along with the corn pollinating and the beans soon, so there is lots of pollen out there to irritate the eyes and sinuses. We have some great supplements here at the office to help with drainage and in helping the body to clear these irritants. I kind of hate to wish for rain too much because once it starts, it seems to have a hard time shutting back off.                 In our health shops this month were talking about Back to School topics and this week were talking about Kids Foods and Moods. We talked in earlier health shops this month about how food is so important for kids to be able to learn correctly this definitely affects their mood as well. Again, as we present our health shop this week, much of th

Top 12 Tips to Strengthen Gratitude

STORY AT-A-GLANCE If your happiness could use a boost, commit to cultivating an attitude of gratitude. It not only boosts life satisfaction, it’s also the single best predictor of good relationships, and benefits both sanity and physical health Gratitude involves affirming the good in your life and recognizing its sources. It is the understanding that life owes you nothing, and that the good things in your life are gifts that cannot be taken for granted A dozen different strategies are reviewed, all of which can help you build and strengthen your sense of gratitude Research shows gratitude, depression, peace of mind and rumination are all interrelated, and that gratitude counteracts depression by enhancing peace of mind and reducing ruminative thinking When you start seeing everything as a gift, opposed to things you’ve deserved (for better or worse), your sense of gratitude will begin to swell. Another way to practice gratitude when life leaves you uninspired is to identify and expr

Focus

Hello Natural Health Family. It was another great weekend. I got to play in a volleyball tournament and had a lot of fun. Although the main goal was to have fun, it was a competitive atmosphere and everyone wanted to win. I realized again what sports really helps you do, the main thing is focus.  When we hear the word focus we may think of many different circumstances or areas of our lives. We may think of sports teams, our jobs, various leaders, camera lenses, paying attention, etc. Many times when we are told to focus we want to grit or will something to happen. We may even try to use our muscular strength and force ourselves to focus. However, imagine if you were to visualize how your house looks. Would you tense up and try to force an image into your mind? Of course not. You would simply relax and allow the image to come to you. So our focus is where we are placing our attention. When we attend to things that we think may happen such as losing the game or if we let the team down,

Kids Health 101

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Another beautiful weekend and I hope you were able to enjoy it. The temperatures have been great and we’re getting a lot of sunshine. We had a little rain but not as much as we need. I was digging in some drain tiles, and the dirt that I was working in was very dry. The grass is staying green though, and that’s a good thing. The trees seem to be doing well and of course the weeds are too. I’ve noticed a lot of patients coming in with sinus drainage I think this is due to the corn pollinating and the dry dust that’s rolling around. We have lots of good products to help with this drainage and allergy symptoms and we help our patients accordingly.                 This week in our health shop, we will be talking about Health 101 for Kids. This month were talking about Back to School topics, so this week should be especially interesting. We talked last week about learning disabilities and the information this week will connect r

The Antitumor Effects of Quercetin

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Quercetin has an apoptotic effect on aging cells that may help prevent or be helpful in the treatment of cancer; years of research have also demonstrated it prevents chemically induced cancer and lung cancer, and inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells Quercetin has also demonstrated the ability to mitigate some of the effects of sleep deprivation, including mood changes, anxiety, memory performance, hyperactivity and cognitive impairment The combination of quercetin, bromelain, vitamin C and zinc has emerged in at least two of the successful protocols used to treat COVID-19; historically, data have shown it is effective against influenza, zika, hepatitis B and rhinovirus responsible for the common cold Quercetin is not water-soluble and is poorly absorbed unless it is paired with bromelain or vitamin C. Quercetin has shown positive benefits for heart disease, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, NAFLD and arthritis Quercetin is found in onions, red grapes an

Responding

Hello again Natural Health Family. Hope everyone was able to do something fun over the weekend. Although there were car complications, I had some good time off with family and friends at the Lake of the Ozarks. Many times life doesn’t go as we think it will, however, it is the way we respond to what happens to us is what can make all the difference.  Think about the last time something happened in your life that might have seemed overwhelming to you at the time. It could have been something that scared you, frustrated you, or you thought it was the end of the world (taking it to the extreme). This may have been a time when life didn’t turn out the way you thought it would. This could be hearing the news about what is happening in the world, something in business didn’t go the way it was supposed to, or perhaps a car breaks down (what happened to me). These moments can seem intense at the time. It is because our mind starts to figure out all whats wrong and gear up to survive other
