Energy 2020

Well we survived the holidays and are well into 2020. I hope that your holiday time was restful and got you ready for the new year. We’re looking forward to a great year as we have many great ways to help patients be healthier and work towards getting away from unnecessary medications and medical debt. I’m surprised and grateful that the weather has been fairly nice for January, hopefully the trend continues. We’ve joked about not having a white Christmas but having a white Halloween instead-ha.             As were into a new month and new year, our topic for the month has changed to looking at Energy. We get our energy from 2 sources in our diet, sugars and fats. Yes the body can run on sugars but the processed sugars that are so rampant during the holidays, are absorbed so quickly the body must do something with them and turns them into fat stored in the la...

Nutritional Support

I hope that you really enjoyed the weekend. It sure was nice weather for the middle and end of December. Doesn’t look like much of a chance for a white Christmas but we have got to see snow several times already. It’ll be nice for those who are traveling to not have to worry about bad weather. I hope that you and yours can get together over the holidays, have lots of fun and good conversation, and try not to eat too much sugar and junk!             As the topic for this month is handling stress, I’ve included an article that looks at 3 major nutritional support supplements that help the body handle stress. Omega 3 oils, vitamin D, and magnesium are all great health promoting nutrients. We have much better ways of determining your need for this than Dr. Mercola and his surveys with our Nutrition Response Testing technique and the supplements we use are whole foo...

Fat Is Your Friend

Fat Is Your Friend One of the biggest health care hoaxes perpetrated during the last decade or so is the notion that “fat is bad.” If you want to enjoy your highest health potential, you need to know the truth about this common (and incorrect) belief about fat. Fat is not your enemy. Fat is essential if you want your body to look and feel younger and equip your nervous system to function at its best. Healthy fats supply good cholesterol, which is critical for the production of hormones that enhance youthful qualities. If you’ve chosen to adopt a low-fat diet, you’re depriving your body of the nutrients it needs to slow aging and to function optimally. Granted, low-fat alternatives abound on grocery store shelves. To get away with low-fat (low-taste) products, manufacturers rely on amping up the sugar to deliver the taste people want. The result? Weight gain. Bottom line? Fat doesn’t automatically make you fat. At least, “good” fat doesn’t.

The finding, which was part of an investigation made by researchers from  Duke-NUS Medical School  and the  National University of Singapore , together with the  Duke University School of Medicine  and the  Medical University of Vienna , is part of a unique approach explaining how reducing sugar can cause cancer cells to die. The paper, which was published in the online journal  Science Signaling,  presented a  novel cell death pathway  through introducing how depriving cancer cells of sugar can trigger a reaction that causes them to die. This research builds on earlier scientific literature that indicates that cancer cells that quickly multiply nee...

Salt is good for you?!

Salt is good for you?! Perhaps you’ve heard some of the buzz in the health blog world about salt. Perhaps you are asking yourself, salt is good for me? Yep, it is! The idea is contrary to the pretty blatant lies told to us by the American Heart Association… and thank goodness, because salt makes food taste amazing. There is no need to suffer through bland, unsalted meals in the sake of health.   Here are  12 reasons why salt is good for you : 1. Healthy Tips for Eating Out

With the holiday coming up and people traveling to different events, I thought this might help Healthy Tips for Eating Out 1.      Probably the most important thing is to just choose food items that are mostly protein and/or vegetables. This would include french fries and many of the fried appetizers. 4.      Always have a salad. Most of the better restaurants have a salad with the entrée or have good salad choices as the entrée. This is a great ...

Quick Cleanse Program

Quick Cleanse Program             At Natural Health, all of our nutrition patients are on a detox program that’s meant to work slowly over a longer timeframe to keep from having any unwanted symptoms or side effects that are uncomfortable for the patient. This is important for those who work all day and have plenty of other stresses in their lives and need no more. Normally if the patient is doing the normal diet recommendations we give, ie – a salad a day and as much vegetables as they can get, and not eating refined carbs, they will detox completely and easily. This hand out is for those folks that have “fallen off the wagon” for some reason, perhaps a bad weekend or a vacation, or just feeling blah, and want to clean the tube out and restart our dietary recommendations more closely.             Standard Process has a 21 day program called the Purification Program th...
