Healthy Life

Hello Natural Health Family. I imagine everyone is doing well. Over the weekend I got to spend much of my time with family that I haven’t been able to see in a good while. We got to share some funny stories and talk about experiences of what the world was like back then. It appears the world is changing faster than it used to. So in these times we must be able to adapt to the stress of life. Let’s talk about some key factors for a healthy body and mind.  Never before have we had so many options on what to eat. Walking into a grocery store you can see the many different foods and it can seem overwhelming to anyone. However, when we think back to our ancestors and see how much better their health was compared to people now we can see that there is a disconnect on the average understanding of what to eat. Many foods in any market are processed and lack the vitamins and minerals that were once there. That is why eating good whole foods when we can helps our bodies to have the nu...

Responding vs Reacting

Good day Natural Health Family. Easter is now behind us and spring weather is rolling in. This season brings change and new beginnings. This means that we need to be ready and better adapt to the new happenings and circumstances in our lives now. When we are better aware of how we are reacting or responding to our environment than we can better understand how that can affect our own health and well being.  We have been told that we are victims of our health and have been conditioned to think that we always need something outside of us to make us healthy. Of course it is good to eat right, drink water, get fresh air and sunshine, and move our bodies to sustain good health. However, we forget the resilience of our own bodies when we have a balanced nervous system. Think of all the ads and media talking about the next great pill or medication to take so we can live healthy. Medications are great to prevent major illness or death, but they are not aiding the body in health. Wh...

Got Bowel Issues?

Hello everyone in Natural Health Nation -      It’s so nice to have warmer weather and I hope you were able to enjoy it this weekend. The birds are chirping, the ducks and geese are flying and I've heard of flowers coming up to show the signs of spring are here. I'm sure looking forward to green grass and the smell of that first cutting. It's an awesome time of year, to watch everything coming back to life from a hard winter. I hope you are able to get Outdoors into the fresh air and sunshine and come back to life after hibernating. I think everyone is looking forward to being able to get outside.      We are working on the topic of diet in February and the topic for this week's Health shop is stomach and bowel issues. The article that I'm sending along with this email is about a “DNR” put on some folks in  care facilities. A "DNR" is a “do not resuscitate” order and the folks that had it used on them didn't even know it...

Selfishness

Hello again on a great Monday morning. I hope you are ready for a great last week of January. Today we will talk about selfishness. This might seem very common sensical but I wanted to give you a different perspective and why being selfish can be seen as bad or good as opposed to what we have been taught.  Let’s start with the negative view of selfishness. For many years we have been taught that we got here because of the idea of survival of the fittest. This means competition and every person for themselves. Selfishness is a trait that we used to survive in harsh times. When we see others who have more than we do we become selfish, but not understanding what the other person has done in order to obtain what he or she has. Many times we forget the hard work people have put in to earn what they have now. We might see that we are lacking which triggers selfish tendencies. Some people may give gifts or perform activities to help others while secretly expecting praise or somet...

A Different Perspective

Hello Natural Health Family. Today we will discuss health and disease. However, not in a way that is commonly discussed. We tend to think in ways that have been previously taught to us in the past. Lets challenge those thoughts and see if they are actually true.  When you hear infectious or the word contagious what do you think? You might think of the common cold. You, if at a younger age, might think of cooties. You might think of the flu. You might think of a virus. Now, it is good to practice hygiene and know what to do in case of sickness. However, what if we thought about other things being contagious. When you see someone who is laughing or having a good time do you start to smile? When you hear someone talk nicely about someone else do you feel lighter or happier? When you get help from someone else whether it is performing a task or the other person just thought you might want some help with anything do you feel more apt to help the next person in need? When a stra...

The Type of Fat You Eat Affects Your COVID Risk

STORY AT-A-GLANCE A compelling report in the journal Gastroenterology offers a radically novel yet logically sound explanation as to why some COVID-19 patients develop life-threatening organ failure, namely their high unsaturated fat intake Data indicate that COVID-19 mortality rates are heavily influenced by the amount of unsaturated fats you eat. Simply put, unsaturated fat intake is associated with increased mortality from COVID-19, while saturated fat intake lowers your risk of death The researchers believe early treatment with calcium and egg albumin will reduce rates of organ failure and ICU admissions, as they bind unsaturated fats and reduce organ injury Omega-6 linoleic acid (LA) makes up the bulk of the omega-6 consumed and is the primary contributor to nearly all chronic diseases, because when consumed in excessive amounts, LA acts as a metabolic poison Detailed instructions for how to calculate and track your LA intake are included A compelling report 1  in the j...

Health and Well Being

Hello Natural Health Family. Today let’s talk about where and what we place our attention on affects our own health and well being. Our world is going through many changes and it is difficult to know what exactly we should do. Sometimes this causes us to become anxious about what will happen for our future. What appears like tension outside of us is actually tension from within.  When we consider that watching a sports game, the news, media, movies, etc. may cause our bodies to tense or strain then we can see that it plays an influence on the health of our bodies and mind. That seems easy enough to understand. But what if we just imagine it, like preparing for the worst case scenario? What do we notice? You will see that your body will tense up just as if you are experiencing the event. This causes us to use much of our energy during the day on things that are not even happening. Feelings of fear or frustration we feel while viewing or thinking about the “turmoil”  dr...

Prejudice

Hello Natural Health Family. This post might be the start of a series of similar posts but we will see how this one goes. Today we are going to talk about the two emotions of prejudice and forgiveness. These emotions are the same but varying in degree. When we use these with reason we can allow ourselves to be free of being attached to a certain person or event that may be draining our energy leading to lack of health.  Prejudice may be defined as premature judgement, bias, often grounded on sentiment, ideas, or associations. Many times when people think of prejudice they think of the intense racism or violence happening in the world. However, prejudice can be similar to intolerance. When one of these is used constantly, then can we find that it starts to grow the more intense nature of resentment, anger and hate. Premature judgement means that when others express views or opinions that are not the same as somebody else they quickly without reason judge that person. This c...

Nutrition and Positive Thinking

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-             What a beautiful weekend! It cooled off just enough to make it very enjoyable outside but still warm enough to not need coats and things like that. It’s great to have things green yet too but we could use some rain as the grass is getting a little brown and it’s very dusty. I hope that you were able to get out and enjoy it and maybe even talk to some friends. I think that people are starting to get over all this stuff, especially hiding in your house all the time-ha.             Tonight for our health shop we are doing a different event. We had planned to do a Dinner with the Docs event where patients come and have supper with us but since all this virus business, we decided to just post the 3 of us going over recipes and explaining how they work. As the kids are headed back to school, we’re getting lots of requests...

Hypernormalisation: A Documentary of a Fake World

Hypernormalisation: A Documentary of a Fake World Analysis by  Dr. Joseph Mercola STORY AT-A-GLANCE Documentary filmmaker and BBC journalist Adam Curtis has developed a cult following for his eccentric films that combine BBC archival footage into artistic montages combined with dark narratives; his latest film, Hypernormalisation, came out in 2016 Hypernormalisation tells the story of how politicians, financiers and “technological utopians” constructed a fake world over the last four decades in an attempt to maintain power and control Their fake world is simpler than the real world by design, and as a result people went along with it because the simplicity was reassuring The film takes viewers on a timeline of recent history that appears as though you’re seeing bits and pieces of a scrapbook, but which ultimately support the larger message that the world is being controlled by a powerful few while the rest of us are willing puppets in the play Documentary filmmaker and BBC jo...
