Appreciation

Hello again Natural Health Family. Over the weekend I had the chance to talk to an older age group and see a different perspective on aspects of life. I listened to what they had gone through in their lives and how it allowed them to view the world through a different lens. Today I wanted to talk about appreciation and how looking at life differently can help us.  Life is quite an amazing journey. When we look back we can see all the trials and tribulations that have led us to where we are today. However, many times people get caught up looking at all the issues that happened in their lives. They see all the chaos in the world and think why all this wrong is happening. They start to criticize and blame situations in life and see themselves as a victim. People can fall into this habit of thinking because of all the information out there. Our minds tend to focus not on the good but on the bad. This is because the mind tries to focus on survival and how to avoid danger. This was adaptiv
Hello everyone and natural health Nation -      Well we finally got some rain and now I’m beginning to wonder if we could turn it back off. It seems we're never happy - ha. I was surprised to see that the ground had dried out that much in a fairly short amount of time but with the rain we had this weekend, everything should be good for quite a while. I was happy to see the grass and everything green back up and the corn and beans are just growing like mad. We were working out in the rain on Saturday to finish some jobs and it was nice that it was warm. I'm sure we'll get lots of sunshine as the summer progresses and probably need more rain at some point too.      The article I'm sending along today looks at what happens to the human body when you eat processed foods. This is a problem during the summer when everyone gets into vacation mode and doesn't eat nearly as well as they did in the Spring. It's one of our problems in our society with all the opportuniti

What Happens When You Eat Ultraprocessed Food for a Month?

STORY AT-A-GLANCE BBC television presenter Dr. Chris van Tulleken ate an 80% ultraprocessed food diet. In four weeks, he gained 15.4 pounds, lost sleep, got anxious, had a low libido and felt 10 years older Biomarkers also showed his brain created new links that increased the risk of repetitive eating like the brain’s response to tobacco and alcohol. The diet increased his hunger hormone (ghrelin) by 30% and he ate food faster Ultraprocessed products are linked to obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and an increased risk of all-cause mortality; metabolic disease also increases your risk of severe disease and poor outcome from COVID-19 It's crucial to remember that food is the foundation of your health and longevity. Consider making a goal of 90% real food and 10% or less processed food to make a significant difference in weight management and overall health It likely comes as no surprise that eating a diet filled with ultraprocessed foods is unhealthy. Research has de

Is Sunscreen Safe?

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -       Another beautiful weekend and we even got some rain. I was so glad because the grass was starting to get dry and it's a little early for that. We are now Into Summer and with that comes lots of warm weather and sunshine. Hopefully the rains will continue and keep everything green and growing. I hope that you all had a great weekend and were able to enjoy Father's Day. It's great to take a moment to remember and thank our fathers and just be able to enjoy the day. The article that I've been closed this week looks at sunscreens and how they can contain chemicals that are not good for a person. I'm lucky in that I can usually get by with just using coconut oil before and after sun exposure but some people have lighter skin and must be more careful. I still think it's a good idea for them to use coconut oil before and after to help heal the skin and help it to tan and stay moist. There just aren't that many good

Is Your Sunscreen Helping or Harming You?

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Testing 294 sunscreen products revealed 78 had dangerous levels of benzene, a known carcinogen; 14 of the products with the highest levels came from popular brands like Neutrogena, Sun Bum, CVS Health and Fruit of the Earth Data from FDA-funded research showed ingredients from sunscreen products build up in the body at unhealthy levels, yet the FDA has made no move to remove the sunscreen products and continues to urge Americans to use sunscreen as they wait for another study to demonstrate harm Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are two sunscreen ingredients that are known to be safe; however, the safety does not extend to the nanosized versions It's important to remember that you need a balanced approach to sensible sun exposure, while being careful to avoid getting burned. Consider internal protection like astaxanthin, wearing clothing or using sunscreen with safe ingredients Beauty is big business. Cosmetics and  personal care products  benefit from social medi

Something New

Natural Health Family! I hope everyone is having a good start to the week and had a great weekend. This past Sunday was father’s day so happy father’s day to all the fathers out there. Being that it was father’s day I wanted to talk a little about our forefathers, specifically, how they chose to explore unknown territory and how it led to the birth of a new nation.  Now with any exploration, they must have had to consider that they wouldn’t know how it was all going to happen. They may have thought about the possibility that they wouldn’t make a destination or what they feared came upon them. However, they instead kept their minds set on the possible future of what could be. They chose to hold true to the idea that whatever happens that they were going to stand firm and allow their sales to keep directing them onward.  Many times in life we may be overwhelmed with what all is happening and what we all need to do at the time. This can be overly taxing on our brains which further l

Healthy Life

Hello Natural Health Family. I imagine everyone is doing well. Over the weekend I got to spend much of my time with family that I haven’t been able to see in a good while. We got to share some funny stories and talk about experiences of what the world was like back then. It appears the world is changing faster than it used to. So in these times we must be able to adapt to the stress of life. Let’s talk about some key factors for a healthy body and mind.  Never before have we had so many options on what to eat. Walking into a grocery store you can see the many different foods and it can seem overwhelming to anyone. However, when we think back to our ancestors and see how much better their health was compared to people now we can see that there is a disconnect on the average understanding of what to eat. Many foods in any market are processed and lack the vitamins and minerals that were once there. That is why eating good whole foods when we can helps our bodies to have the nutrients n
