Why is the Nutritional Testing We Do So Important?

Why is the Nutritional Testing We Do    So Important?             The answer to this is simple. People spend millions of dollars per year on vitamins, oils, super foods, super drinks, etc. and yet our health in this country is getting worse. This is because these people, who are trying to help their health, are listening to marketing and advertising information rather than knowing exactly what nutrition they need and how they need it. Weight Loss Simplified II

Weight Loss Simplified II             This handout is geared towards the patients who are having a tough time losing weight. As many of our other handouts talk about toxicity in the body, we are finding this is a much more prevalent problem in folks who are having a hard time losing weight and we must work harder to get these toxins out of the body. With this in mind, we are especially looking at the liver and kidneys and helping these organs to be able to remove these toxins so the body can lose the weight. Were also find that these toxins gum up the metabolic processes and that we must address this issue as well. We’ve also found that further restriction of carbohydrates is especially helpful, working towards a ketogenic, and almost Carnivore type diet. A saying that we’ve come across that seems to work is that the diet is for losing weight, and exercise is for building muscle. In other words, it’s hard to lose weight by jus...

Fat Is Your Friend

Fat Is Your Friend One of the biggest health care hoaxes perpetrated during the last decade or so is the notion that “fat is bad.” If you want to enjoy your highest health potential, you need to know the truth about this common (and incorrect) belief about fat. Fat is not your enemy. Fat is essential if you want your body to look and feel younger and equip your nervous system to function at its best. Healthy fats supply good cholesterol, which is critical for the production of hormones that enhance youthful qualities. If you’ve chosen to adopt a low-fat diet, you’re depriving your body of the nutrients it needs to slow aging and to function optimally. Granted, low-fat alternatives abound on grocery store shelves. To get away with low-fat (low-taste) products, manufacturers rely on amping up the sugar to deliver the taste people want. The result? Weight gain. Bottom line? Fat doesn’t automatically make you fat. At least, “good” fat doesn’t.

The Benefits of a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet

The Benefits of a Cyclical Ketogenic Diet The MMT diet is a cyclical  ketogenic diet , high in healthy fats and fiber, low in net carbs with a moderate amount of protein. Nutritional ketosis is the metabolic state associated with an increased production of ketones in your liver; i.e., the biological reflection of being able to burn fat, and is defined as having blood ketones in the range of 0.5 to 3.0 mmol/L. However, a key component that differentiates MMT from most other ketogenic eating plans is its emphasis on CYCLICAL ketosis. Once your body starts to burn fat for fuel, you need to switch to a cyclical ketogenic diet, as long-term continuous ketosis has some serious drawbacks that may actually undermine your health and longevity. The "metabolic magic" in the mitochondria actually occurs during the refeeding phase, not during the starvation phase. Alas, you cannot get to that magic unless you first go through the starvation phase. This is why we refer to the MMT p...

Does removing sugar from your diet starve cancer cells? New study finds surprising answers Sunday, July 22, 2018 by:  Ralph Flores ( Natural News ) Cutting back on sugar  may help decrease your likelihood of getting certain cancers , a recent study noted. The finding, which was part of an investigation made by researchers from  Duke-NUS Medical School  and the  National University of Singapore , together with the  Duke University School of Medicine  and the  Medical University of Vienna , is part of a unique approach explaining how reducing sugar can cause cancer cells to die. The paper, which was published in the online journal  Science Signaling,  presented a  novel cell death pathway  through introducing how depriving cancer cells of sugar can trigger a reaction that causes them to die. This research builds on earlier scientific literature that indicates that cancer cells that quickly multiply nee...

Heartburn and Hiatal Hernia

Heartburn and Hiatal Hernia             At Natural Health, we are always concerned with preventative and causative actions. The current medical treatment for heartburn is the use of proton pump inhibitors, and/or antacids, that reduce the stomach acid and helps with the symptom. The problem with this is that it does nothing for the cause and makes it hard for the individual to absorb any nutrients from the food they eat. It also causes pH problems downstream in the gut, leading toward Leaky Gut, and can affect the whole body and how it functions. If the pH is not correct in the stomach, this can lead to the pylori bacteria getting a foothold which leads to ulcers. Our society is also geared to a fast pace which does not allow the digestive system to work correctly as the nervous system is always overstimulated. We must look at the causes to relieve the condition permanently.         ...

The 3 reasons you should NEVER eat wheat -- Yes, even "whole wheat" There are 3 main reasons why wheat is a terrible food for your body and does more harm than good... Reason #1 -- Wheat causes blood sugar disruption, Glycation of your cells, increases AGING, weight gain & boosts Diabetes risk Before I tell you why wheat can actually speed up the aging process in your body, let's clarify some simple biochemistry in your body... This deals with "glycation" in your body, and substances called  Advanced Glycation End Products  (AGEs). These nasty little compounds called AGEs  speed up the aging process  in your body including damage over time to your organs, your joints, and of course, wrinkled skin. This may surprise you, but  high blood sugar levels  over time dramatically increase age-accelerating AGEs in your body. This is why type 2...

Salt is good for you?!

Salt is good for you?! Perhaps you’ve heard some of the buzz in the health blog world about salt. Perhaps you are asking yourself, salt is good for me? Yep, it is! The idea is contrary to the pretty blatant lies told to us by the American Heart Association… and thank goodness, because salt makes food taste amazing. There is no need to suffer through bland, unsalted meals in the sake of health.   Here are  12 reasons why salt is good for you : 1. The premise that salt leads to hypertension has never been scientifically supported. On the contrary, studies show that a reduced-sodium diet leads to health issues.  In one study, subjects consuming less than 2300 mg. (the recommended daily allowance) of sodium per day had significantly higher mortality rates  (meaning a higher risk of death) than the subjects consuming 2300 mg. or more sodium per day. 2.  Salt aids blood sugar control by improving insulin sensitivity . A low-salt diet  increases ...

Healthy Tips for Eating Out

With the holiday coming up and people traveling to different events, I thought this might help Healthy Tips for Eating Out 1.      Probably the most important thing is to just choose food items that are mostly protein and/or vegetables. Most restaurants and servers will allow you to pick and choose certain items or sides with your entrée but realize there may be an up charge. 2.      You don’t have to take the bread. Many restaurants bring bread before the meal and you can ask them to not do that. Yes it taste good but you don’t need the cards. 3.      Stay away from the deep-fried items as the oil that they used to fry the food is probably hydrogenated and then reused many times. This would include french fries and many of the fried appetizers. 4.      Always have a salad. Most of the better restaurants have a salad with the entrée or have good salad choices as the entrée. This is a great ...

How to lower Cholesterol?

How to lower Cholesterol?             To learn how to lower your cholesterol, we first must have a discussion about what cholesterol is and does. Cholesterol is in all the cell membranes in your body, your brain is 60 to 80% cholesterol by weight, but in your bloodstream it is a transfer molecule moving triglycerides from the liver to the fat cells for storage, or from the fat cells to the liver to be used for energy production. Only about 5% of the cholesterol that gets into your body comes from the diet, the rest is all made by the liver for the purposes mentioned above. The problem with cholesterol comes when the body uses it to repair the damage in the arteries that comes from the use of refined sugar. The increased sugar consumption causes insulin spikes and the resulting inflammation deteriorates the lining of the arteries. With more inflammation, the body uses more cholesterol to patch it up and this causes the plaque, ...
