Learn By Experience

Welcome back Natural Health Family. September is already coming to an end. Time seems to be moving fast. Does it seem like that to you? Life can seem like a steady slow stream and then a class V white water rapid where you don’t know what lies ahead. At times we need to trust the process and other times we need to learn more to better be prepared to help ourselves along the way. Health is an aspect as well that we need to incorporate both trust and knowledge so that we are able to live happy healthy lives.  Knowledge tells us that the stove can get really hot. Wisdom helps us understand not to put our hand on it. When we learn various information we can better understand what is needed to get the result we want. However, many times we need to experience things in life to actually know what to do. We can read a book on the specific ways to drive a car, but until we actually get in one and go through the process do we get to the point of knowing how to do it well.  We...

Medication VS Whole Food Supplements

Hello Everyone In Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you really enjoyed your weekend. These nice days won’t last forever but we will enjoy them while they’re here. I wish we could’ve gotten a little more rain in this area, and kind of green things back up again but that wasn’t the case. Farmers are starting to work on harvest and putting a lot of dust into the air. We need a good rain to wash it out and keep it on the ground but we’ll see what happens. Don’t forget that we have lots of great nutritional products to help with sinus and allergy symptoms, actually working on the cause which is a liver issue.                 This theme goes right along with our health shop this week talking about idiopathic therapies being the fourth leading cause of mortality in this country. This is talking about the use, and of cou...

Niacinamide Enhances Natural Killer Cells to Beat Carcinomas

STORY AT-A-GLANCE According to recent research, nicotinamide, also known as niacinamide (a form of niacin or vitamin B3), enhances natural killer (NK) cells’ ability to defeat blood cancers Pretreating NK cells with an unspecified amount of niacinamide upregulated a lymphocyte homing molecule called CD26L, which improved the antitumor functions of the NK cells in several ways The combination of niacinamide-enhanced NK cells and monoclonal antibody treatment resulted in complete remission in 11 of 19 patients within 28 days, and three had partial response Niacinamide also protects your skin against ultraviolet radiation damage from the sun, thereby reducing your risk of skin cancer It’s also been shown to improve survival after cardiac arrest, primarily by restoring tissue NAD+, and can help prevent heart failure According to recent research, 1 , 2  nicotinamide 3  (also known as  niacinamide ), a form of niacin (vitamin B3), enhances natural killer (NK) cells’ abil...

Change of Plans

Good day Natural Health Family! Appreciate everyone for being a part of this community and wanting to better your health through more natural means. It was a good weekend. However, I did have fun plans that got canceled close to the last minute. Sometimes that is just how things happen. Life doesn’t always have to go the way we think, but that doesn’t make it better or worse.  Have you ever had plans that didn’t go the way you intended? Maybe it was a vacation experience where you had everything planned to a T but then as the days went on the plans just fell apart. What about a time where you wanted something to go one way for so long, but then 5 years later you could see it from a different angle and say “wow, glad it didn’t go that way.” Many times we want things to work out exactly as we want it to or the way we have thought about it. We know that many times life doesn’t go that way though. Plans get canceled, activities get rescheduled, and we experience events that ma...

Vitamin K2 Is Important for Vascular Health

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is found in green leafy plants and is best known for the role it plays in blood clotting. Vitamin K2 (menaquinones) comes in several forms, the most common of which are MK-4, found in animal foods, and MK-7, found in fermented foods. Vitamin K2 plays important roles in bone and cardiovascular health Research has found that people with the highest intakes of both types of vitamin K have significantly lower risks of atherosclerosis-related heart disease. Those with the highest intakes of vitamin K1 had a 21% lower risk of being hospitalized with atherosclerosis-related heart disease and those with the highest intakes of vitamin K2 had a 14% lower risk. Those with high vitamin K2 intake also had a 34% lower risk of peripheral artery disease One of the primary ways in which vitamin K2 protects your cardiovascular health is by activating matrix Gla protein (MGP), which is a potent inhibitor of arterial calcification. Vitamin K2 can have a d...

Fall Allergy Season

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Another beautiful weekend and we got some more rain. Hopefully it’s enough to bring the grass back and green up things again. Even though it’s a little cooler in the morning, I’m not really ready for Fall and what comes afterwards. I’m starting to have more people complain of sinus and allergy symptoms that I think is due to some of the harvest activity kicking up a lot of dust into the air. Don’t forget that we have great products to help the liver drain and keep the lymphatic system cleaned out so that folks don’t have these symptoms. I always try to remind people about hydration issues too, because normally Fall is a little drier and everything is already dry. Also don’t forget that hydration includes good quality water and electrolytes, meaning sea salt or mineral salt or our product called Cal-amo.        ...

Small Steps

Hi Natural Health Family. How is everyone doing? The past weekend was great to get out and enjoy the weather. I decided to drive my motorcycle to Rockford, Il for a friend's wedding last weekend which was around a 4-5 hour trip. Let’s just say I won’t be doing that again anytime soon haha. However, I did realize a couple things during the ride. An important aspect was to not just get to where you want to go but also to enjoy the journey getting to the destination.  When we want to do something in life, have a goal of some sort, or try a new experience, we tend to think of what we will gain out of it once it is accomplished. This is great because it can help us grow in many ways. However, realizing that the destination is only as great as the journey to get there helps us slow down and appreciate the steps it takes. Many times when we want to do something new we stop ourselves due to fear of taking the first steps. The end result can seem so overwhelming that we don’t go forward a...

Healthshops Monday's at 6:15 pm

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Another beautiful weekend and was nice to have the cooler temperatures, but not too cool. We are back to needing rain again as the gravel roads sure are dusty. Combine this dust with the pollen that the farmers are starting to kick up with harvest, and we will have a lot of patients asking about allergies and good supplements to help with those symptoms. We sure have them here at Natural Health. After the last couple rains, things had greened up again but now were back to everything looking brownish, especially as the crops in the fields start turning. It looks like were headed towards Fall for sure.                 Don’t forget that were having our Health Shops again on Monday nights at 6:15 and this month were talking about the main health problems in America. This week w...

Could a Vitamin Reduce Hearing Deficit?

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Loss of cholesterol in the inner ear may be involved in age-related hearing loss — and phytosterols may help resolve it Phytosterols, which have a structure and function similar to cholesterol, led to improvements in the function of outer hair cells in the inner ear, which help amplify sounds They may help balance cholesterol in the inner ear, which may be a useful strategy to prevent or delay hearing loss Finally, phytosterols also have anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities and may target neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration Early humans ate phytosterol-rich diets, consuming as much as 1 gram per day, but the typical modern U.S. diet is relatively low in these beneficial plant-derived compounds Loss of cholesterol in the inner ear may be involved in age-related hearing loss — and phytosterols, a common over-the-counter supplement, may help resolve it. The finding, published in PLOS Biology, could be “an innovative therapeutic strategy in preventing and...
