Remembrance

Hi again Natural Health Family. I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to all those who served. This post will be short and to the point. Let’s talk about how seeing things differently can help us in our lives.  When we think of Memorial Day we remember all those that gave their lives so that we could have our freedom. The many wars that have happened, all the conflict, all the chaos, we can see what many have gone through. Imagine what not only those who passed away due to wars but the families who continued on with all the loss. To all those living during those times, the amount of suffering must have been difficult to bear. Much of the turmoil would naturally cause many to be fearful, panicked, doubtful, sad, worrisome, frustrated, angry, and so on. Nevertheless, they still had the courage and faith to keep moving forward in life. On a relative scale we can see that many of the issues and problems that we face today can be seen as not so great than...

Side Effects

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you all survived Memorial Day weekend! It was a great weekend with great weather and hope you got some good sunshine but not too much. We did lots of things outside and it was sure nice to be able to enjoy the green grass and the trees looking so nice. We like to have our house open so we get fresh air and we noticed that there was a lot of pollen that had come in, so there is a lot of pollen and dust out there. We have great products at Natural Health to help patients detox from all this dust and pollen and keep “allergy symptoms” at bay. I’m also starting to warn patients about hydration and not only drinking the water that they need every day, but getting the electrolytes, or good quality salt, to help keep their bodies hydrated. There are so many conditions that would be helped if people would just keep themselves hydrated correctly.  ...

How to Tell if You're Overprescribed Medications

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Polypharmacy is the term used for overprescribed medications. This is more common in older adults who have several risk factors and often have more than one chronic health condition that can lead to overprescription Overprescription is not limited to adults. Data from 2014 showed more than 274,000 children from birth to 1 year were prescribed psychiatric drugs, 249,669 antianxiety drugs, and 1,422 ADHD drugs Over-the-counter medications can also create drug interactions and side effects. When too many drugs are prescribed, you may be taking one to take care of the side effects of another You may be overprescribed medications if you consistently visit multiple doctors, have a new health condition, have trouble keeping up with your medication or have new financial pressure from the expense of your medications Take control of your drug cabinet by creating and maintaining a list of the medications, supplements and OTC drugs you routinely take, share the list with yo...

Have Some Fun

Good day Natural Health Family. What a great weekend. I was able to play some golf last Sunday. Although I haven’t played in a long while, I was able to hit some good shots. However, of course I realized I need more practice. Golf is an interesting sport which helps you learn about how you are reacting to different things. Many times it is the so-called mistakes or bad shots that help you learn more or see things more clearly.  Have you ever had a day when it started with one thing going wrong and then it seemed like one thing after the other happened that way so you chalked it up as a bad day. Or have you watched a game where a team had one bad play then another and then another. This is a pattern that everyone knows about. Golf helped me to see how this pattern comes to be. It can happen to anyone and if we don’t become aware of it then it can happen more than we like.  When you think of professional athletes, what do you think they think as they are about to get ...

Nutrition vs Medications

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you enjoyed your weekend is much as we did. We had a graduation party on Saturday and a couple’s wedding shower on Sunday, so was a great weekend to talk with friends and relatives and enjoy the nice weather. We found out, with a little tenderness, that we had too much sun so started using some coconut oil on that to help the skin heal and get that tan going so we’re ready for the rest of the nice weather coming up. I was glad to see the temperatures get a little cooler than the 90° stuff we had last week. Plus, we really enjoy looking at all the green grass and green tree leaves and seeing all of the crops planted that are coming up- everything growing and full of life. There is lots of palm in the air too, and some folks are having some problems with that so don’t forget that we have great products to help your lymphatic system clean this ou...

The Egg Crackdown — A Scorecard for Nutrition and Taste

STORY AT-A-GLANCE “Egg Crackdown,” a CBC Marketplace report, investigates the marketing of supermarket eggs and visits egg producers to get a firsthand look at what the company’s label actually means Health conscious consumers know to look for designations like “organic,” “free-range,” “pastured” and “cage-free,” but while you may think many of these are interchangeable, they’re actually not While organic poultry and eggs are guaranteed to be free-range, as required by organic standards, free-range poultry are not required to be organic The organic label is the only way to ensure you’re getting eggs from chickens that have not been fed antibiotics for growth purposes, as this is not allowed under the organic standards Overall, the cage-free and free-range labels say little to nothing about the conditions in which the chickens are raised. For the best quality eggs, from the most humanely-raised hens, the label you’re looking for is “organic” and “pastured” This article was previou...

Pollen and Allergies

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you enjoyed your weekend is much as I did. It’s nice that the weather has started to moderate a bit but we did have a little taste of summer there. This week is supposed to be very nice temperatures and I hope you can get out and enjoy the sunshine. We are noticing a lot of problems with the pollen that is everywhere right now and we have some great products to help your body handle that. It’s important to realize that the liver has to deal with anything brief in and everything has to drain through the lymphatics. This dust and pollen is in the air and our bodies will have to deal with it but there are good ways of doing that and we can help here at Natural Health.                 Our health shop this week looks at breast and cervical cancer as we are still in ...

Connection

Hello Natural Health Family. I imagine you all had a joy filled weekend and if not I hope it worked out well. Last weekend I was able to attend a family gathering which consisted of a celebration of life. I got to see people I haven't seen in a long while and connect with others. I also learned more about family and where everyone is at in life. Let’s talk about connection and how it can help in our lives.  When we think of connection we think of various things. It may be our internet connection when we want to get online with our phones or computers. It may be the ability to send a message or call a person. We may think of the physical cords we have to connect to our electronics such as cables to the television or headphones to our phones. Just like connecting with cords or the internet through a clear signal, people can connect by physical means such as a handshake or non physical means by just being there as a helping presence in times of need.   Social media ha...

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Your body depends on essential nutrients for growth, development and health maintenance, and deficiencies in certain vitamins can impact your immunity, vision, wound healing, bone health and much more Common nutrient deficiencies include vitamin D, magnesium, vitamin K2, carnosine (beta-alanine) and vitamin B12 Many people also do not consume enough omega-3 fats, vitamin A, vitamin E, iodine and saturated fat from butter and animal products The best way to ward off nutrient deficiencies is to intentionally fortify your meals with whole, nutrient-dense foods, including healthy saturated and omega-3 fats; targeted supplements can also be beneficial to make up for any nutritional gaps Nutrient deficiencies are very common, even among people who believe they’re eating a balanced diet.
