Spring Allergies

Spring Allergy Information

Spring allergies affect an estimated 25 million Americans. Airborne pollen is the most common cause of seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or allergic rhinitis.
An estimated 80 percent of your immune system is located in your gut, so supporting your digestive health is essential to also supporting your immune system, which is your primary defense system against ALL disease, including allergies and asthma.

Processed food, GE ingredients and synthetic additives all decimate the beneficial bacteria in your gut, thereby having a negative effect on your immune system. Ideally, you’ll want to avoid processed foods, focusing on organic, locally-grown foods instead, and include fermented foods in your diet to optimize your gut flora.

A number of foods and herbs can help alleviate allergy symptoms, including hot pepper, quercetin, butterbur, golden seal and eucalyptus oil.

The root of many health problems is related to an imbalance of intestinal bacteria, and this foundation of good health is laid even while in utero.

A recent analysis of available clinical trials found that women who take probiotics—i.e. healthy bacteria—during pregnancy reduce their child’s risk of developing allergies

Providing abundant probiotics in the form of fermented foods is one of the most powerful ways to restore your baby’s beneficial gut flora; raw, organic grass-fed yogurt is well tolerated by most infants and children.

Recent research shows probiotics can put those suffering with psoriasis, ulcerative colitis and/or chronic fatigue syndrome into remission, and reduce chances of relapse.

At Natural Health, we work hard to get patients diet corrected and use probiotic and gut healing supplements to strengthen the immune system. We CAN help.

Good Food, Digestion and Absorption

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving and were actually grateful for all the food that we ate. There is a lot of good foods in the Thanksgiving meal, but also some that probably weren’t the best for us. We will just have to get back on the good eating bandwagon so that we stay healthy through the rest of these holidays coming up. I try to remind people to stay hydrated because it’s easy to forget to drink water and get your electrolytes. Staying hydrated just helps so many systems of the body and helps the pH to stay correct, which helps keep the bugs, which are in us and on us at all times, under control.                 We had a great Black Friday Open House/Patient Appreciation Day and were very thankful for the folks that came out and enjoyed some food and drink, an...

Breast Health

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-             Aren’t the trees beautiful? Fall is such a beautiful time of year and the weather has been outstanding. I hope you were able to get outside and increase your vitamin D stores for the winter. Remember that vitamin D is activated by sunlight so it’s important to get some. Vitamin D is also an oil soluble vitamin so you must be consuming good fats in order to have a good vitamin D source. If you get into the science of vitamin D, you’ll find it comes from cholesterol so the mainstream medicines war on cholesterol causes vitamin D levels to be low and this causes lots of immune system problems and other issues. We help our patients be able to digest and absorb fats and watch that their vitamin D levels are optimum.             The article I’m sending along this week looks at screenings and mammograms and how they can be...
Hello everyone and natural health Nation -      Well we finally got some rain and now I’m beginning to wonder if we could turn it back off. It seems we're never happy - ha. I was surprised to see that the ground had dried out that much in a fairly short amount of time but with the rain we had this weekend, everything should be good for quite a while. I was happy to see the grass and everything green back up and the corn and beans are just growing like mad. We were working out in the rain on Saturday to finish some jobs and it was nice that it was warm. I'm sure we'll get lots of sunshine as the summer progresses and probably need more rain at some point too.      The article I'm sending along today looks at what happens to the human body when you eat processed foods. This is a problem during the summer when everyone gets into vacation mode and doesn't eat nearly as well as they did in the Spring. It's one of our problems in o...
