Spirit of The Holiday Season

Welcome back Natural Health Family. Thanksgiving has come and gone. It really seemed to go by fast. Now we are back at it again heading more into the spirit of the holiday season. I hope people got their fill on food but more valuable was able to connect with family and friends. Are discussion for this month is prepare for winter. A key aspect to preparing is also embracing. We all want everything to go perfectly but that isn’t always the case. So, when we can embrace what may come knowing that it can be a possibility then it is not so stressful if it comes.     Whenever we prepare for anything, we typically think of the worst-case scenario. It is theorized that our brain is hardwired for this. Think about the times back in the day when winters might not have been the most fun of times. Without the instant availability of heat, the access to indoor   plumbing, the ability to stock up food for the winter as easy as it is done today, it can be surprising ...

Good Food, Digestion and Absorption

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving and were actually grateful for all the food that we ate. There is a lot of good foods in the Thanksgiving meal, but also some that probably weren’t the best for us. We will just have to get back on the good eating bandwagon so that we stay healthy through the rest of these holidays coming up. I try to remind people to stay hydrated because it’s easy to forget to drink water and get your electrolytes. Staying hydrated just helps so many systems of the body and helps the pH to stay correct, which helps keep the bugs, which are in us and on us at all times, under control.                 We had a great Black Friday Open House/Patient Appreciation Day and were very thankful for the folks that came out and enjoyed some food and drink, an...

Holidays Plans

Good day Natural Health Family! I imagine everyone has been getting plans set for the upcoming holidays. Thanksgiving is close and with that comes good food and good company. Everyone has had different experiences when it comes to thanksgiving and the holidays. The main thing is that it can be a time for connecting and celebrating with friends and loved ones. However you celebrate, remember to enjoy this time with others. Today I ask you what your intention is going into the holidays? Many times, when we are going to start anything or go to an event, we sometimes can fall into the trap of hoping nothing goes wrong  rather than just enjoying the flow of it all. Just like an athlete that intends to score a point and win the game, it is similar with our interactions during the holidays. When we are conscious of what we do or how we choose to spend our time we will be able to clearly see when we get out of alignment and get back on. When we set an intention to connect with oth...

Give Thanks!

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Another great weekend if you like dry weather. It looks like this coming week might get us some rain I hope that’s true, we sure could use it. It also might be the last weekend for 70° weather for a while but we’ll see. As old as I am, I’ve seen quite a few wintry Christmases and quite a few summerlike Christmases. It seems like every year is different, as far as the weather goes, and some are better than others. I already had patients coming in and telling me that this winter is going to be a bad one and other patient saying that this winter is going to be a mild one. We’ll have to just wait and see but I’d rather it be mild-ha.                 Don’t forget about our health shops live on Facebook and Instagram at 6:15 on Monday nights and then we will post it to Brighteon....

Most People Don't Reach Micronutrient Requirements Through Food Alone

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Most adolescents are not getting adequate nutrient intake from diet alone — a finding confirmed from other studies in developed countries such as Spain, France, Portugal and Germany Three-quarters of adolescents consumed less than 54% of the recommended amounts of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and dairy products Nearly three-quarters of the youth exceeded the recommended limit for sweet and salty snacks — by 453% When nutrient intake was considered from diet alone, adolescents often consumed less than recommended amounts of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E along with the water-soluble vitamins folate, biotin and pantothenic acid The use of dietary supplements helped to increase the adolescents’ intake of vitamins and minerals, particularly magnesium and vitamin C, but this isn’t a replacement for a healthy, nutrient-rich diet While it’s possible to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs by eating a healthy diet, most people fall short. The ...

Holiday Meanings

Welcome back Natural Health Family. I imagine everyone got to enjoy the nice weather as there may not be many more days this year, but you never know it is the Midwest! We all know that the weather change can be more dynamic during this time of the year. We know also that holidays are coming and the many things that come with it. Sometimes this can bring up many things for a lot of  people such as memories, feelings, and all of what we must do to prepare for what is coming. Life can be what we make it and although sometimes it might not seem to go the way we want we also have the choice to make the most of it.     The holidays can mean different things for many people. Depending on life circumstances it can have different associations that come with these times. Society has led us to believe we need so many things which makes us want to get all the good deals to get all the different gifts or items. This is not good or bad, but we can also focus on the connection w...

Your Immune System and Winter

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 What a nice Fall weekend! I know, it’s a little cool but the sun was out and we didn’t get any bad weather. It’s just accepting that Fall is here and might as well enjoy it. It sure has gotten dry again and I know that’s lending towards a lot of sinus problems due to all the dust and pollen in the air. We are using a lot of our product called Antronex , to help the liver have a higher capacity to drain lymphatics and get the gunk to go out through the bowel rather than backing up into the sinuses. We are also trying to remind patients to keep themselves hydrated and that helps the lymph fluids to drain correctly. And don’t forget that hydration includes not only good quality water but also the electrolytes, which is just a fancy word for mineral or sea salt.                ...

Is Your Gallbladder Causing Digestive Issues?

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Your gallbladder is an abdominal organ that stores and concentrates bile produced by your liver. The bile helps your body break down and absorb the fat that you eat. When you eat a fatty meal, your gallbladder will contract and squeeze more concentrated bile into the small intestine to aid in the breakdown of the fat Since your gallbladder is involved in the breakdown of dietary fats, digestive problems — especially when eating fatty foods — can be indicative of a problem, even if you have no other symptoms. Digestive symptoms include frequent abdominal bloating, gas, nausea and/or diarrhea shortly after eating Gallstones are one of the most common types of gallbladder problems that can occur, affecting an estimated 15% of the U.S. population. Women are twice as likely as men to develop them, especially during pregnancy or if using birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy One of the reasons for this gender difference is because the extra estrogen incre...
