Hydration and Electrolytes

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you enjoyed your weekend, and hopefully, we’re passed a lot of the heat. I get a kick out of listening to the climate disaster folks, talking about this being the hottest time ever. I’m old enough to remember days that were 105° or 107°, and we bailed hay in it. The main thing is to remember to stay hydrated, which includes drinking good quality water, and getting good electrolytes, again, just a fancy word for sea salt or mineral salt. The body needs both parts to stay hydrated and just drinking water alone flushes the salt out of the body and you can have other problems. A lot of people will have leg cramps and muscle spasms because of the lack of good quality salt. Unfortunately, mainstream medicine has advised people to stay away from salt because they don’t recognize, or distinguish between, the difference between mineral or sea salt and ...

What Are Polyphenols and Why Do We Need Them?

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Polyphenols are powerful organic compounds found in plants, which help protect plants from ultraviolet light, pathogens, oxidative damage and harsh climates Consuming foods rich in the more than 8,000 known polyphenols may help ward off chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, Type 2 diabetes and obesity There are four major types of polyphenols — flavonoids, phenolic acids, stilbenes and lignans Polyphenols positively influence gut microbiota, and it’s likely that gut-modulatory effects may partially explain the benefits of many polyphenol-rich foods If you eat a diet based on whole foods, you’ll naturally consume plenty, as polyphenols are abundant in fruits, vegetables, tea, cocoa and more Polyphenols are powerful organic compounds found in plants, which offer protection from ultraviolet light, pathogens, 1  oxidative damage and harsh climates. With more than 8,000 identified to date, consuming foods rich in poly...

Clean Up

Welcome back Natural Health Family! Hope everyone had a great weekend. We at Natural Health are talking more about the summer and staying healthy during these months. During the weekend I did a lot of cleaning up. It always feels good when you are able to get things organized and straightened up. There are many aspects to cleaning so let's talk about how it can help us in many areas of life.  Did you ever hear back then when you were in school or college when preparing for exams that it helps when you have your living space cleaned and organized? It is because you won’t study well when there are other tasks to be done. When we think about having to clean up we may think of the dishes, taking out the garbage, vacuuming the carpets, doing the laundry, etc. These activities may be things we have to do on a certain timely basis. Then there are other jobs that we can do that helps to declutter what would help to open up space either at home or in other areas. It just feels good...

Hydration and Salt

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you enjoyed your weekend and the cooler temperatures. It looks like this coming week will be a little warmer but that is July. Don’t you wish we could bottle up some of this heat now and be able to use it this winter? I hate even think about that word, winter-ha. I got a little more rain at the house this weekend so the grass is staying mostly green. Of course, I still have to mow it because the weed heads keep poking out but I’d much rather mow grass then scoops snow. With this heat coming, make sure and stay hydrated and don’t forget that that includes good quality water and electrolytes, or sea salt and mineral salt. We use a lot of our product called Cal-Amo, which is a calcium salt, this time of year and this helps a lot with muscle cramps and leg spasms due to the body being dehydrated. Enjoy the heat while it’s here!  ...

Evidence-Based Homeopathic Family Medicine

STORY AT-A-GLANCE The principles of homeopathy were originally developed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), a German physician to the Royal family, and are based in the law of similars, also known as “like cures like” In 1900, homeopathy was a leading therapy in the U.S., with 22 homeopathic medical schools. This began changing when, in 1901, the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research was established, and in 1910 when the Carnegie Foundation in secret collaboration with the AMA published the “Flexner Report”, with the aim of replacing homeopathy and herbs with chemical drugs The more a medicine undergoes a specific pharmacological process of “potentization,” that is, serial dilution with vigorous shaking, the more effective and long-lasting it is, as nanodoses are able to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and cellular membranes with greater ease There are more than 300 double-blind and placebo-controlled trials published in peer-reviewed medical journals, including The Lanc...

The Heat Is On

Hello again Natural Health Family. It appears that we are flying through July and deeper into the summer weather. The hotter temps mean more ability to get outside and do what we want to do. People will do various activities because of so many different likes and tastes. It is interesting how people see things differently which allows us to have a more unique experience during the summer and the rest of the year.  Have you ever played a sport or any fun activity, perhaps when you were younger, and at first it was all fun and games but when the stakes were high or it got really close both sides got heated up. This can happen for many different reasons. However, sports really can help us see how the best become the best. The players that are at the top of their game understand that at a certain time either side of the court, net, field, etc. will get fired up. The energy will shift depending on certain happenings that occur. They also know that this is a play of energy. The en...

Seed Oils & Cholesterol

Hello Everyone In Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you all had a great weekend and got plenty of rest for this coming week. It sure was a nice weekend with some decent temperatures and some nice breezes. Even though it was hot, it wasn’t terrible and the breeze made it feel much cooler. I’m so thankful that were getting some rain in the area so that the grass is greening back up and is looking more like summer, rather than fall. Mowing grass is kind of the pain but not that bad. I’d much rather mow grass than scoop snow! Were still noticing some people having problems with their sinuses and allergies, I think due to the summer pollen and still this silly smoke stuff from Canada. Don’t forget to use Antronex and/or Allergco if you have those already. These are two great products that help the liver drain the lymphatics and keep the mucus from backing up into the sinuses. I think if we ge...

Linoleic Acid — The Most Destructive Ingredient in Your Diet

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Fats are the primary building block of your cell membranes. This is one of the reasons why eating the right types of fat is so important for your health and longevity While most nutritional experts blame the epidemic of chronic disease on the increase in sugar consumption, the role of sugar is relatively minor when compared to the impact of seed oils There are two basic types of fatty acids, based on how many of their carbon bonds are paired with hydrogen: saturated fats and unsaturated fats. Unsaturated fats are further subdivided into monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs), depending on how many pairs of hydrogen atoms they are missing Because your tissues are made up mostly of saturated and monounsaturated fats, your body requires more of them than PUFAs The main dietary PUFAs are omega-3 and omega-6 fats, and while your body does need these, it needs them in relatively small quantities. The most pernicious toxin in the modern diet, and the fat...
