Spring Has Arrived

Hello Everyone In Natural Health Nation-

I hope that you had a great weekend, even though it was a little cold and windy. My sister drove down from Detroit Lakes Minnesota and had asked if I wanted to go along as she was headed to Florida, so I did. It was cool down there, too, the first couple days but then got hot enough that I got a little bit of a sunburn. It’s interesting that I thought it was very green down there but the local residents seem to think it’s brown yet until the spring rains come. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective. Whatever the color, it sure is better than the white of snow!

We are still talking about diet in our Health Shop and Patient Education Workshops this month. And we don’t mean diet as far as weight loss only but the diet that you eat that helps your body repair itself. There are rules that people must know about what they eat and drink to stay away from causing your body to fall apart from lack of nutrition, and on the other side of the coin, what to eat to build their body into a stronger and more energetic state. One simple rule is about eating proteins in the morning so that it helps your blood sugar remain more constant throughout the day. Having a big sugary breakfast, which includes grain cereals like oatmeal and cornflakes, makes your blood sugar go up and when insulin comes up to get it out of the bloodstream, causing your blood sugar to go low, and then you feel tired and wore out about 10 or 10:30. These are the things we talk about in our health shops and workshops, just trying to help patients remember the basic rules of eating that they’ve known forever but don’t hear about all the time. Mainstream media advertising is about selling more stuff, whether it’s the foods themselves, or the medical treatment it takes to stay alive from these bad diets.

The article that I’m sending along this week looks at the connection between cell phone usage and tumor growth. The point at our office is that electromagnetic frequency pollution, or EMF, is real and even though it’s invisible, it can still cause trouble. A point here is that if you have heard the studies that show that EMF does not bother people at a certain amount, that could be true. The problem comes in when you add this source of it and that source of it and do that for a long period of time, it is a major stress to the body and that’s what leads to the problems. Mainstream medicine only tests one thing at a time and only for a short time so that it all seems good, but the statistics of mortality show differently.

Most People Don't Reach Micronutrient Requirements Through Food Alone

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Most adolescents are not getting adequate nutrient intake from diet alone — a finding confirmed from other studies in developed countries such as Spain, France, Portugal and Germany Three-quarters of adolescents consumed less than 54% of the recommended amounts of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and dairy products Nearly three-quarters of the youth exceeded the recommended limit for sweet and salty snacks — by 453% When nutrient intake was considered from diet alone, adolescents often consumed less than recommended amounts of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E along with the water-soluble vitamins folate, biotin and pantothenic acid The use of dietary supplements helped to increase the adolescents’ intake of vitamins and minerals, particularly magnesium and vitamin C, but this isn’t a replacement for a healthy, nutrient-rich diet While it’s possible to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs by eating a healthy diet, most people fall short. The ...

Breast Health

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-             Aren’t the trees beautiful? Fall is such a beautiful time of year and the weather has been outstanding. I hope you were able to get outside and increase your vitamin D stores for the winter. Remember that vitamin D is activated by sunlight so it’s important to get some. Vitamin D is also an oil soluble vitamin so you must be consuming good fats in order to have a good vitamin D source. If you get into the science of vitamin D, you’ll find it comes from cholesterol so the mainstream medicines war on cholesterol causes vitamin D levels to be low and this causes lots of immune system problems and other issues. We help our patients be able to digest and absorb fats and watch that their vitamin D levels are optimum.             The article I’m sending along this week looks at screenings and mammograms and how they can be...

Communication

Natural Health Family, how is everyone doing? I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend and got some sunshine. Today let’s talk about communication and why it is important in our lives and for our own health.  Last weekend I explored Colorado. I went snowboarding and hiked a good amount also. I learned a lot just by getting out in nature and noticing different aspects of the forest and parks. One characteristic of the forest that I found interesting was the aspen trees. It appeared that they would appear sporadically in the forest and in groups. I was curious and wanted to learn more about them. I found out that the different aspen trees or tree trunks are not separate but they actually function as one tree. The roots of the tree are well connected so that they are able to communicate and act as one organism. I found this interesting because we tend to think that the whole tree is only about what is on the surface of the ground rather than all the roots and connections...
