Home Sweet Home

Hello Natural Health Family. We had an amazing weekend celebrating the wedding of my brother and now wife in California. It was great being able to spend time with family and friends that I haven’t been able to see in a long while. Many times people can get caught up in the business of traveling and doing what needs to be done for all the work needed for a wedding. We all know how it can seem stressful during these times. However, when it is all said and done we look back to wonder why we stressed out so much in the first place. Much of the time it is a matter of being able to relax and let life unfold.

I am sure many of us have heard the phrase, “home is where you make it.” This can seem like a cheesy phrase from a movie but it can have great effects on the way we live. When we are at home we feel safe, more relaxed, and able to do what we need to do. So when we feel at home in other areas such as all the way in California we can start to let events unfold. Of course we don’t want to be careless about our belongings or act in certain ways that are not suitable for the environment. Nonetheless, we can practice being in this state of mind which allows our own bodies to be in a state of ease. There may have been events or circumstances in the past that we felt anxious or overwhelmed about because of something that happened. However, it is up to us to be able to retrain the way we see events and know that there is nothing to be afraid or feel bad for. We must be able to let it go so that we can live life more where we are at.

Weddings along with other events may have some bumps along the way but that is what can make it memorable. Looking back and being able to laugh at all the little things that would have stressed us out before can be a fun experience. When it comes to future events or daily life, when we know that there can be ups and downs then we are not so concerned when something supposedly goes wrong. We are able to reframe the situation and shift knowing that it may have been needed to redirect us to a different more helpful path.

Although where we live can be nice to get back to and relax, the world can be our home. As we are able to appreciate all the good in life and what is in front of us, we can feel more at ease even though we may be going through big life events. We can’t control everything, but we can control how we respond in our environment and choose how to interact. So whether you may be at home or far from it physically, know that you have the power and choice to be home with a little change in how we see it.

Thanks for reading.

Most People Don't Reach Micronutrient Requirements Through Food Alone

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Most adolescents are not getting adequate nutrient intake from diet alone — a finding confirmed from other studies in developed countries such as Spain, France, Portugal and Germany Three-quarters of adolescents consumed less than 54% of the recommended amounts of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and dairy products Nearly three-quarters of the youth exceeded the recommended limit for sweet and salty snacks — by 453% When nutrient intake was considered from diet alone, adolescents often consumed less than recommended amounts of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E along with the water-soluble vitamins folate, biotin and pantothenic acid The use of dietary supplements helped to increase the adolescents’ intake of vitamins and minerals, particularly magnesium and vitamin C, but this isn’t a replacement for a healthy, nutrient-rich diet While it’s possible to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs by eating a healthy diet, most people fall short. The ...

Breast Health

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-             Aren’t the trees beautiful? Fall is such a beautiful time of year and the weather has been outstanding. I hope you were able to get outside and increase your vitamin D stores for the winter. Remember that vitamin D is activated by sunlight so it’s important to get some. Vitamin D is also an oil soluble vitamin so you must be consuming good fats in order to have a good vitamin D source. If you get into the science of vitamin D, you’ll find it comes from cholesterol so the mainstream medicines war on cholesterol causes vitamin D levels to be low and this causes lots of immune system problems and other issues. We help our patients be able to digest and absorb fats and watch that their vitamin D levels are optimum.             The article I’m sending along this week looks at screenings and mammograms and how they can be...

Communication

Natural Health Family, how is everyone doing? I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend and got some sunshine. Today let’s talk about communication and why it is important in our lives and for our own health.  Last weekend I explored Colorado. I went snowboarding and hiked a good amount also. I learned a lot just by getting out in nature and noticing different aspects of the forest and parks. One characteristic of the forest that I found interesting was the aspen trees. It appeared that they would appear sporadically in the forest and in groups. I was curious and wanted to learn more about them. I found out that the different aspen trees or tree trunks are not separate but they actually function as one tree. The roots of the tree are well connected so that they are able to communicate and act as one organism. I found this interesting because we tend to think that the whole tree is only about what is on the surface of the ground rather than all the roots and connections...
