Adaptability

Hello Natural Health Family. I imagine everyone is doing well. As the madness of march is coming to an end we can be ready for new beginnings. Even though there may seem to be chaos and strife still happening in the world we can know that good will come from it. The world is constantly changing. It is up to us to adapt to the change and with good health we are able to embrace it better. Let’s talk about some ways to become more adaptable.  One way to help us become more adaptable is the food that we eat. Imagine if you were a professional athlete playing at the highest level or an astronaut embarking on a crucial mission. You would want to perform at your best because your performance dictates if you will still have a spot on the team or your space cadets all need you to do your job to complete the mission. If you were eating too many foods that don’t have good and healthy nutrients then you may be limiting yourself to perform at your best. Those split seconds on the field...

Nervous System and Chiropractic

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 I hope that you had a great weekend despite the wind. Hopefully it blew away all the excess leaves in your yard and didn’t bring all the neighbors leaves into your yard. These are the usual spring winds where the winter is battling with summer and hopefully the summer temperatures win out. Last weekend’s 70° days spoiled us in a hurry and hopefully they will be back soon. We’re starting to talk a little bit about spring allergies here at the office, and we have some great products to keep those under control. Just realize that many times allergies are due to a toxic liver and a lymphatic system not draining correctly. We can definitely help with that here at Natural Health.                 The health shop we are having this week looks at that connection between the brain a...

Top Tips to Optimize Your Mitochondrial Health

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Cancer is a metabolic disease, not a genetic one. The genetic mutations observed in some cancers are a downstream effect of defective energy metabolism in the mitochondria (the energy stations inside your cells) As long as your mitochondria remain healthy and functional, your chances of developing cancer are slim Ketogenic therapy calls for restricting net carbs to 50 grams per day and limiting protein; I recommend a limit of 1 gram of protein per kilogram of lean body mass. Fasting glucose needs to be below 70 mg/dL This article was previously published December 15, 2019, and has been updated with new information. If you want to avoid becoming a cancer statistic (and who doesn't?) you'd do well to familiarize yourself with the metabolic theory of cancer. In August 2016, we presented the Mercola.com Game Changer Award to Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D., 1  a professor of biology at Boston College and a leading expert and researcher in the field of cancer metabolism and...

Slow & Steady

Hello Natural Health Family! Spring is here and things are heating up. Many times we can get caught up in all what is going on throughout the year. This could be life events such as weddings, celebrations, reunions, get togethers, house projects, etc. Moreover, we can realize that we have gone through many events in the past and most if not all happen to work out well. Let’s talk about how patience can help us as we start to feel the need to hurry to get things done.  Have you ever been in a hurry? I would say that the vast majority of us if not all of us can say that we have. Sometimes it is a good thing to be in a hurry. We might think of times when we are crossing the street and see a car coming. This is a good time to be in a hurry. Or perhaps when we are late to a special event that was planned years ago. How about a time when we arrive at an airport with only so much time to board the plane. These are all times when the need to be in a hurry is a good thing. It helps...

Spring Has Sprung

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Well, the weather is getting nicer and nicer and it looks like were past the deep freeze part of winter. This time of year, is great in that the temperatures are getting warmer, the grass is starting to green up, but we don’t have a lot of the chores yet and can just enjoy the warmth. Soon, we will be into mowing grass and swatting flies, but that’s all part of the beauty of life in the Midwest. I’d much rather have it green and luscious then Brown and Sandy so I think I’ll stay-ha.                 We had a great 40 th anniversary week last week and enjoyed all the festivities. Thanks for all the “Congratulations” that I received from patients last week. Time sure seemed to sneak by and I must’ve had a lot of fun because it went by quickly. There’s a lot of memories in th...

How to Step Out of Your Sedentary Lifestyle

STORY AT-A-GLANCE U.S. inactivity and sedentary lifestyles cause obesity and other health problems Car-based lifestyles based on commuting from suburbs to job sites have greatly increased inactivity Incorporating walking into personal lifestyles can lower blood pressure, reduce susceptibility to diabetes and lower the risk of developing some cancers and cognitive decline Walkable communities and parks are making a comeback, often through the efforts of citizen activists Many, including the elderly, have taken up mall walking; in some places children now walk to school via "walking school buses" This article was previously published January 4, 2020, and has been updated with new information. Most of us have some idea about the dangers of inactivity — the too common lifestyle that consists of going from the "couch to the car to the cube." But many think the alternative to a sedentary life is active working out and a gym membership. The excellent documentary "Th...

Embracing Changes

Good morning, afternoon, or night Natural Health Family, whenever you may be  reading this. The times are changing not only with daylight savings time but in all areas of life. You may be unaware of what is happening if you live under a rock. For those who don’t, you are witnessing the changes all around you. As this happens more and more we can understand that with anything, health is one our greatest values. This month is about digestion so let’s dive in and see what could help promote perfect digestive health.  I want you to imagine if you would that you have been called for a certain task from a friend that really wants your help. The friend offers you the choice to take it or not but doesn’t tell you what it is. He or she will tell you what it is once you say yes or no. However, the friend really wants you to do it because you have a good relationship. So since you want to help you say yes. This friend then explains that the task is to give a speech to an audienc...

Celebration Week Is Here!

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation-                 Well, the weekend was okay. We had some sunshine and got rid of most of the snow that we got on Thursday again. It looks like this week will be warmer in general and hope they were getting past the very cold temperatures. I did hear some tree frogs croaking yesterday so they have to see through ice thrice before all the below freezing temperatures are over, at least that’s what the old wives tales say. I really like this time of year because there is so much anticipation of good weather and we can really see it coming as the days get longer. Hope the time change hasn’t messed up your sleeping habits much, but if so, just take more Cataplex G.                 During the month of March were talking about Diet and this week in our health shop, were talking about Stomach and B...

Doctors Were Paid to Prescribe Opioids

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Opioid addiction has been identified as a continuing, significant factor in overdose drug deaths According to the CDC, more than 42,000 Americans died from opioid overdoses in 2016 — a 28% jump in opioid deaths from the year before. In 2020 and 2021 overdoses surged, before reaching record-level deaths just in the first half of 2021 Research suggests opioid overdose deaths were being undercounted by 20 to 35% in 2017, due to drug omissions on death certificates. A more accurate tally probably would have put the opioid-related death toll closer to 50,000 for 2016 Despite widespread discussion about the dangers of opioids and the high risk of addiction, and despite updated treatment guidelines for back pain that stress nondrug interventions over pain killers, and even though doctors slowed down in prescribing these drugs, drug overdoses are continuing to spiral One of the reasons for this appears to be financial. According to an analysis, more than 200,000 doctors...
