What is Normal?

Welcome back Natural Health Family. I imagine everyone was able to have at least some fun during the weekend. It seems as though many people are starting to question many topics about what is going on nowadays. Much information out there is being spread that may lead many to be confused about what to do. It may cause us to overthink and overanalyze everything not being sure what is the truth. Today we are going to talk about a truth that has been forgotten over the years. This truth is simply this: Health is Our Natural State of Being .  Have you ever contemplated why it appears that there is so much illness and dis-ease in the world? Why we have been led to think that many of the health issues are from causes outside of our control. That we are predestined to have health issues due to our heritage or circumstances. In today’s world chronic illness is seen as common in much of the population. According to the CDC, 6/10 people have one chronic illness and 4/10 have two or m...

What Type of Food Is Best?

H ello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -      Another great Spring weekend. Hopefully you got outside and were able to get  in the sunshine-get that vitamin D activated! It's still a little cool but when the wind is not blowing, the sun is very powerful and hot. It will soon be great weather to be in shorts and sandals. We start using a lot of coconut oil on those suntanned areas  for skin protection and healing. It's simple and cheap and allows for the absorption of the good sun rays.       I've included a great article today on the topic of which is better, a plant-based or meat-based diet.  At Natural Health, we just want people to eat good food and not worry about one or the other. Of course , they're trying to politicize this choice now but Humanity has always eaten both plants and meat products, especially when you couldn't find or get one or the other. Any food is good during a famine. It's still A...

Experts Face Off on Plant-Based Versus Meat-Based Diets

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Dr. Paul Saladino, a proponent of animal-based diets, debates Dr. Joel Fuhrman, who advocates for a primarily plant-based diet Many of the studies linking plant-based diets to better health are observational epidemiology, not interventional studies, and as such cannot prove causation and are often plagued by healthy and unhealthy user bias Numerous interventional studies suggest consuming meat does not lead to increased inflammation or oxidative stress, but improves insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity Many phytochemicals are plant defense molecules that have negative effects in humans, and plant-based diets can lead to nutrient deficiencies Fuhrman suggested that observational studies are still beneficial due to the long-term nature of nutrition; it can take time for the health effects of a poor or healthy diet to show up. But, Saladino noted, human evolution may be the best long-term “study” of all, supporting the consumption of naturally raised, grass f...

A Different Lens

Hello Natural Health Family. It appears that spring is here with fluctuations of warm and cold. As the season changes we start to see things differently such as the changing colors of the grass and trees. We start to notice different nuances that we might have not been able to notice before. Whether it is the anticipation of new activities that we can do or just more sunshine, our attitude changes. When our attitude changes about life in general than we have a different view of it. Today let’s examine the idea between life happening to you and life happening for you.  Some may think life is happening to them. This of course is not a wrong way of thinking. However, it may lead people to think that they can’t do anything about it and then complain when something doesn’t go the way that they want it to. This may lead to reasoning that they can’t get what they want and life is always going to be like this. People then tend to think that no matter what they do life will always ...

Swimming with Masks?

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -      I hope that you all had a great weekend. It's nice that we're having a Spring this year rather than just going into Summer. I was kind of worried there earlier as we had some very warm days but looking forward to a 2 inch snow this week - ha. We're getting lots of patients coming in with allergy issues and aches and pains from working in the yard. Don't forget about our Albizia Complex  product for those Spring allergy symptoms. This product works by helping the liver to drain lymphatic so is actually helpful as compared to over-the-counter allergy medications which are hard on the liver and kidneys. And don't forget about our two workhorse products -Cataplex ACP and Boswellia Complex which helps with the aches and pains of being overworked. We are  basically helping the body to heal up from the damage done from overwork, again in contrast to over-the-counter pain relievers that stop inflammation an...

New Law to Force Masks While Swimming

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Spain’s Ministry of Health announced a new law that would make masks mandatory in all public spaces, even if no one else is around — including when sunbathing at the beach or swimming in the ocean While face masks were already mandatory in public and outdoor spaces when keeping a distance of 1.5 meters (3.2 feet) or more wasn’t possible, the updated rule suggests that mask usage is mandated at all times, even when “socially distanced” A number of regional governments immediately suggested that they would defy the initial orders, while the tourism industry also criticized the move Just days after releasing the new rules, the Spanish health ministry proposed revisions that would allow people to forgo a mask at the beach if they are swimming, playing a sport or resting in a fixed spot, and maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters from other people The public narrative is building prejudice against people who refuse to wear masks, such that some are now fearful of peopl...

Not Against But For

Hello Natural Health Family. This weekend I was reminded of something that I think is simple but we may often forget about. Today let’s talk again about the importance of not being against something but always being for something.  This past weekend I was able to spend time with family. We talked about all sorts of topics. However, I saw or realized something interesting with people when talking about certain things. When topics came up that people agreed upon then the conversation went well. Of course the opposite would tend to happen when a topic came up that people didn’t agree upon. Those topics came up rarely because it seemed like nobody wanted to hurt anyone's feelings. Then I thought why do some people get upset about one thing and others don’t mind. When we get upset we rarely know exactly why we do until sometime after when we can look back upon it. When we react to a person or situation it is because something inside of us is getting irritated and coming up to t...

Sun Health

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -      Well I heard people complaining last month or so about the ground being dry and I think after this weekend, that problem is over. We should have lots of May flowers after all these April Showers and the moisture should last us a while. It seems we always get at least one or two big rains during the Spring and Saturday's rain was one of those big ones. Then comes along this week and it's going to  seem cold but it's actually just Spring weather. We're starting to use more of our allergy relief nutrition as the trees are all budding out and more pollen and dust in the air. At least that's one good use for a masks - ha.      This month we're talking about food and environmental allergies and Sun health. The article that I've enclosed looks at the lack of minerals throughout the population due to two main factors, one being the  soils that our food are grown on are deficient and...

Why Most People Are Deficient in Minerals

STORY AT-A-GLANCE “The Mineral Fix,” written by James DiNicolantonio, Pharm.D., and Siim Land provides a comprehensive guide about the role of essential minerals and why you need them to optimize physiological function and survival DiNicolantonio believes that not getting enough minerals in your diet can be just as damaging as eating an unhealthy diet focused on sugar and seed oils There are three primary reasons why so many people are mineral-deficient, including that our foods are more nutrient-depleted, people aren’t selecting the right foods to hit optimal intakes and chronic diseases states are compounding the problem The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for many minerals may be inadequate to protect your health and don’t get you to the levels needed to optimize your antioxidant defenses The best way to increase your mineral intake is via healthy foods like pastured liver and mussels; mineral water can also boost your mineral intake It's estimated that 1 in 3 Americans is...
