Immune Systems

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -      Well I hope that you enjoyed the cold weekend and got to watch a little of the Super Bowl. We even went to one of our favorite restaurants that has reopened, and really enjoyed sitting down for a meal and watching a football game. We had not done that all season and it was definitely fun for a change. We're hoping to be able to do that more often. It's great to see people's faces again and hopefully we're getting past some of this covid-19 fear. It was also interesting to see the thermometer in the negative numbers and we have a few problems with water lines but we'll get that figured out. I hope that the cold didn't cause you any problems and don't forget that we have Congaplex and Herbal Throat Spray  if you notice a throat tickle or some sinus drainage.      I have an interesting article to look at this week and it talks about our society being too clean and not keeping the immune syste...

Could a Too-Clean Society Trigger a Rise in Food Allergies?

Analysis by  Dr. Joseph Mercola STORY AT-A-GLANCE Your body uses multisensory mechanisms to monitor what you eat, each of which may be impacted by processed foods and environmental toxins; they also play a role in your response to food antigens Other potential factors that impact the development of food allergies include your vitamin D level, overuse of antibiotics or antacids and a delay in feeding children typical allergy-related foods until later in life Food allergies are triggered by the immune system, while a food intolerance is a gut reaction to something you've eaten. Although most food allergies start in childhood, it is not uncommon for people over 18 years to develop them You may reduce your potential risk for allergies through protecting your gut health by avoiding medications or toxins that alter the balance, and by eating fermented foods to repopulate beneficial bacteria and optimizing your vitamin D level A paper published by Yale University scientists propose...

Heart Health Month

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -      Another wintry weekend but it is the end of January. I've had several patients tell me that they have seen Robins around so wondering if that means spring is coming early or that winter is just not going to be that bad. I think the worst part about this time of year is that everything looks so Gray and I’m really starting to look forward to getting green grass growing again. I really look forward to the smell of the fresh cut green grass. This is the beginning of February and we are making this our heart month, especially with Valentine's Day being here soon. We have a special on our heart sound recorder exam and it is a lot of fun just to go through and see what your heart valves sound like. My son, Coach Eddy, is doing those for us and he has a great deal of experience that he picked up as an associate with Standard Process. It's a really easy test to do and the results are very quick. Anybody is welcome to...

Is Wearing Three Masks Better Than One?

Analysis by  Dr. Joseph Mercola STORY AT-A-GLANCE In order to “maximize protection” against COVID-19, researchers recommended layering two types of masks or using a three-layer mask to keep particles out There’s just one pesky problem to covering your mouth and nose with multiple layers of material: “At some point, ‘we run the risk of making it too hard to breathe’” In the included video, Dr. Ted Noel uses a vaping device and several different types of masks — including disposable and cloth — to illustrate that vapor clearly passes around and through the masks The first randomized controlled trial of the effectiveness of surgical face masks against SARS-CoV-2 infection found masks did not statistically significantly reduce the incidence of infection Researchers writing in PeerJ said cloth masks have “poor filtering efficiency” due to large, open pores present in the masks; this got even worse after washing, with filtering efficiency dropping by 20% after the mask was washed ...

Focus

Hello Natural Health Family! It’s Monday again so you know what that means… we get to have another great week. Now I know that sometimes we may think the weekend went fast and we have to go back to work. However, a subtle change in mindset helps for many different areas of life. Let's talk about mindset and more specifically our focus.  Can you remember a time when you were laser focused on something or activity you did. Maybe it was when you were a kid and you wanted to be able to perform some skill like riding a bike. At first you might have used training wheels to get a feel of what the end result would feel like. You would be cruising down the road with the wind in your hair and excited knowing that all that time spent training was worth it. So then, you are getting comfortable with the training wheels so you take them off and see how it goes. You notice that it is hard to maintain your balance and you feel a bit scared so you start slow and are hesitant to keep both l...

Selfishness

Hello again on a great Monday morning. I hope you are ready for a great last week of January. Today we will talk about selfishness. This might seem very common sensical but I wanted to give you a different perspective and why being selfish can be seen as bad or good as opposed to what we have been taught.  Let’s start with the negative view of selfishness. For many years we have been taught that we got here because of the idea of survival of the fittest. This means competition and every person for themselves. Selfishness is a trait that we used to survive in harsh times. When we see others who have more than we do we become selfish, but not understanding what the other person has done in order to obtain what he or she has. Many times we forget the hard work people have put in to earn what they have now. We might see that we are lacking which triggers selfish tendencies. Some people may give gifts or perform activities to help others while secretly expecting praise or somet...
