Heart Sound Recorder

Hey everyone. I got a short one for you this week.  Our Healthshop on Feb 22nd will be talking about the Heart Sound Recorder. This machine is quite remarkable when it comes to how technology has risen to maximize the effectiveness of checking out the sounds the heart is admitting. Back in the day, the machine used to be the size of a coffee table with 2 rolled up papers on each side of the table. The paper would proceed from one side to the other. There was a needle in the middle of the machine that would work the same way as you would detect earthquakes. The Heart Sound Recorder is going off the vibrations coming from the valves. We look at all four valves: Mitral, Aortic, Tricuspid and Pulmonic. They all have their own distinct ways of opening and closing. This microphone is very sensitive and picks up the sounds from those very little valves that are in the heart. When I do your scan, I mainly look at the Rate, Rhythm and Tone. When we scan your heart we can compare it t...

Be For Something

Hello Natural Health Family. We have faced a lot of colder weather recently. I hope everyone is able to stay warm and know that spring is coming. Today we will talk about the subtle difference between being for something rather than being against it and why it is important.  When is the last time you wanted to change something in your life but always found yourself thinking about what you don’t want. We have been thinking in a mode of survival for thousands of years. This mode of thinking would be to prepare for the worst incase something bad or unfortunate were to happen. This makes sense when people were needing to prepare for long winters, to protect themselves from other predators, gather as much food as possible, etc. That is how we have thought for long periods of time. However, our environment is not like that anymore. Now it is more involved with finances, rent, how people think of us, what to say to others, etc. This can create the same response in our bodies. Thi...

Dairy and Digestion

Hello Everyone in Natural Health Nation -      Well it looks like we're headed out of the Deep Freeze. I hope that you had a nice weekend enjoying the "warmer" weather . We're definitely not at Spring yet but it looks like we may be going that way. I've heard the robins chirping in the morning so apparently they think Spring is coming. And Easter seems early this year so hopefully those are good signs of warmer weather coming. We are using a lot of Congaplex and Immuplex at the office for our patients as these nutrition's help with strengthening the immune system. Remember that we're here to help with  anyone's immune system strengthening, plus as a side effect, getting the body healthier helps them reduce weight. We're getting a lot of questions about that too.       I don't know about you but I'm starting to get tired of all the Covid stories in the news. There is so much bologna going on there so I've decided to inclu...

Cheese Is One of the Most Neuroprotective Foods

Analysis by  Dr. Joseph Mercola STORY AT-A-GLANCE Out of 49 whole foods, cheese was “by far” the most protective food when it comes to avoiding age-related cognitive problems Those who ate cheese daily had better fluid intelligence scores over time; red wine and lamb consumption also had a favorable effect The researchers concluded that modifying your daily meal plans may minimize cognitive decline while adding cheese, red wine and weekly lamb may improve long-term cognitive function When you eat natural cheese, you get valuable fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and amino acids that protect your brain and overall health; raw grass fed cheese is best in terms of nutritional punch. What you eat has a powerful effect on brain health and can even influence your cognitive function long-term. In particular, a study of 1,787 adults revealed that out of 49 whole foods, cheese was “by far” the most protective food when it comes to avoiding age-related cognitive problems. 1 Cheese ha...

Love Hate

Hello again! I hope everyone is staying warm and well. Since we just passed Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be fun to talk about the relationship between love and hate. I will attempt to give another perspective and explain why they can be more similar than we think.  Let's first start with hate. Hate may come after the accumulation of lesser forms such as irritation, aggravation, frustration, and anger. It also may come from a past experience like in childhood. A parent may unknowingly impress the mind of the child with hate. The parent from their past experience was taught that their ways of disciplining a child is how it is meant to be. Or the parent might have unintentionally, because of their own problems or frustrations at the time, let out hatred towards a child. Of course, there are times that children need to be directed. This direction should not be with hostility but with kindness and patience. You can see how hate, from past experience,  can be prevale...

Strong Heart

H ey Hey Hey!! This blog I took a different approach, I hope you enjoy it.  There is such a powerful connection between the emotion of love and the heart. It’s great seeing that people are waking up to the fact that emotions can affect their health. We use many different emotions during the day and the majority of the time we are unconscious of them. Meaning that we could be wearing a full costume of negative emotions and when we look into a mirror, we simply just see our body. These negative emotions that we have in our minds can be reflected as disease in the body. This doesn’t happen overnight, the majority of them happen over years time. This is called chronic disease. So let’s use this analogy to talk about how love can transform your health and life.  When we were kids it felt like there wasn’t a worry in the world. We didn’t fear anything until we were told not to do that. Free. Loving. Enjoyed everything in front of us. Always present. Never thinking about what was don...

Nutrition Response Testing

Hello everyone in Natural Health Nation -        Well I know some people who really like winter and they are getting their wish now for sure. I was hoping we would get by with  an easy winter but I guess we're having it now and that's fine, let's get it over with. It looks like next week will warm up and hopefully that'll lead us towards better weather and springtime. I hope that you haven't had too much trouble with the cold, like your car not starting and not having to shovel too much snow. We're living in a different house this winter than last, and just learning about how all the snow drifts and the differences. You just don't know how things are going to react when it's this cold. You’ve just got to love that global warming - ha.        We are still in heart month, so we're talking a lot about that in our  Health shops. Hopefully you had a great Valentine's Day and didn't eat too much chocolate. ...

NAD+ Helps Restore Age-Related Muscle Deterioration

NAD+ Helps Restore Age-Related Muscle Deterioration STORY AT-A-GLANCE Several studies have proposed that mitochondrial dysfunction in your motor neurons drive the development of sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) Scientists recently discovered that Alzheimer's-like protein aggregates (amyloid beta) underlie the muscle deterioration commonly seen in aging, and that nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is essential for combating this condition When the NAD+ salvage pathways in muscle are impaired, mitochondrial dysfunction and decreased muscle mass ensue NAD+ boosting molecules such as nicotinamide riboside (NR), nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), nicotinamide (a form of vitamin B3 or niacin) and nicotinic acid (niacin) have been shown to protect against age-related muscle disease NMN appears to be the best, as it activates the NAD+ salvage pathway and is a direct precursor to NAD+. Lifestyle strategies such as exercise, sauna bathing, fasting, recalibrating your circadian rh...

Patience

Hello Natural Health Family. Happy Day After Superbowl Day! We are off to another week and it is getting cold and snowy out there. With the cold and snow the roads are getting a little more slick. This is when it is important not to rush to where you are going and take your time. Another way to say it is being more patient. And that is what we will talk about today, Patience.  Patience can mean many things to many people. Sometimes we think of patience as simply waiting for something in our lives. However, patience can be used in many different areas of life. When we intend to achieve something in our lives we must exercise patience. Many great people before us who achieved great feats failed many times before. They didn’t know when, but knew that whatever they wanted to achieve was possible. Patience is also important when we talk about our relationship with others. Many people talk about patience being a virtue but then don’t practice it in their own lives. Patience is a p...

Love Heals

Hey my Loves. Ever since we were kids, we have been using this emotion. Love for others. Love for our food. Love for ourselves. Love for life. I think it would be safe to say that everyone's strives to have a life that they can fully love. A life that they can relax, they can play, and they can feel abundant. As it relates to your health, love is the most powerful healer and can heal any type of illness that is in the body and mind. Many think that love is the red heart shaped box of chocolates with a teddy bear, but it goes much deeper than that.  I have had the privilege to understand the true power of love in my own health and life. The research available is remarkable and once it is applied to one’s life, it can positively transform any area of your life. Why? Have you ever looked at a kid playing? Have you seen how present he/she is in the moment? Just in complete awe with everything in front of them. What changed us being a kid to us all grown up? The development of t...
