Spirit of The Holiday Season

Welcome back Natural Health Family. Thanksgiving has come and gone. It really seemed to go by fast. Now we are back at it again heading more into the spirit of the holiday season. I hope people got their fill on food but more valuable was able to connect with family and friends. Are discussion for this month is prepare for winter. A key aspect to preparing is also embracing. We all want everything to go perfectly but that isn’t always the case. So, when we can embrace what may come knowing that it can be a possibility then it is not so stressful if it comes.

Whenever we prepare for anything, we typically think of the worst-case scenario. It is theorized that our brain is hardwired for this. Think about the times back in the day when winters might not have been the most fun of times. Without the instant availability of heat, the access to indoor  plumbing, the ability to stock up food for the winter as easy as it is done today, it can be surprising how we managed as a society to pull through. However, we must come to realize that we are strong, especially when we work together. Our ability to adapt is the key to endure triumph or disaster and human beings are very good at adapting to our environment when we are given the ability to do so through learning good healthy practices.

So, through this wintertime it is important to keep up with healthy practices even if you have some days to celebrate. More importantly also to make this time to look for the good, to celebrate time with our loved ones, and to embrace whatever comes with an open mind and forgiving heart.

Have a good rest of your week.

Dr. Chip

Most People Don't Reach Micronutrient Requirements Through Food Alone

STORY AT-A-GLANCE Most adolescents are not getting adequate nutrient intake from diet alone — a finding confirmed from other studies in developed countries such as Spain, France, Portugal and Germany Three-quarters of adolescents consumed less than 54% of the recommended amounts of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and dairy products Nearly three-quarters of the youth exceeded the recommended limit for sweet and salty snacks — by 453% When nutrient intake was considered from diet alone, adolescents often consumed less than recommended amounts of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E along with the water-soluble vitamins folate, biotin and pantothenic acid The use of dietary supplements helped to increase the adolescents’ intake of vitamins and minerals, particularly magnesium and vitamin C, but this isn’t a replacement for a healthy, nutrient-rich diet While it’s possible to get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs by eating a healthy diet, most people fall short. Enjoy The Show

Hi Natural Health Family! Imagine everyone enjoyed their weekend with some great weather. Did you have a win from last week? Could be something small or a big accomplishment. Whatever it was, I hope it brought you joy in some way. Sometimes life can seem strugglesome, difficult, and overwhelming. We have the ability to reframe the way we see life. Let’s talk about our ability to respond to the way we see the world around us.  Have you ever been watching a tv show or movie and thought “wow there really isn’t anything going on in the show, there are no ups and downs, no twists and turns, it just seems so bland and boring.” Maybe you have thought of that but I would guess that you probably didn’t. The movie with the director, producer, and actors is meant to grab your attention. The director wanted to captivate the audience, of course to sell more movies, but also for the people watching to get lost in the experience of watching the movie. If the movie is really good we almost forget we

A Blessing

Hi Natural Health Family. We got some rain this weekend! It was definitely refreshing and great to see something different. I am sure many of the farmers were happy to see that along with anyone that has grass. Time to mow again haha. Just like waiting for the rain we can be more patient in other aspects of our life.  Have you ever had something happen that you thought was bad or perhaps a mistake by yourself or someone else? However, after perhaps days, weeks, months you look back and realize if that didn’t happen then you would have never realized something that helped you down the road, a blessing in disguise. Many times people get caught up in thinking that this event that happened was so bad or that it should have never happened. When we are quick to judge something then we may keep ourselves from seeing something more clearly. Of course it is okay when we get frustrated from time to time, but then we can redirect ourselves to see whatever happened in a different way we can le
